Today we are going to be doing an exercise,
The meditation I am going to lead you through for igniting your five layers of being.
Now you may recognize the importance of keeping your physical body in shape,
But when is the last time you exercised your subtle body or your causal body?
In the ancient tradition of Indian yoga,
Every one of us has five bodies,
Each made of an increasingly finer grade of energy.
And if we intend to live a fully balanced life,
Truly healthy,
All of our five bodies need to be kept in top shape.
The five progressively subtle bodies that compose our personality have been described in the Taittiriya Upanishad more than 5000 years ago.
The human beings consist of a material body built from the food that we eat.
And if you are caring for this body,
You are nourished by the universe itself.
And inside this is another body made of life energy.
It fills the physical body and takes its shape.
And if you treat this vital force as divine experience,
Excellent health and longevity,
You will become yours because this energy is the source of physical life.
Within the vital force is yet another body,
This one is made of thought energy.
It fills the other two denser bodies and has some shape.
It has the same shape as that.
And those who understand and control the mental bodies are no longer afflicted by fear.
And deeper still lies another body comprised of the intellect.
It permeates the three denser bodies and assumes the same form.
Those of us who establish their awareness here feel themselves free from unhealthy thoughts and actions.
And you develop self-control necessary to achieve your goals.
Within inside is yet another subtler body composed of pure joy.
It pervades the other bodies and shares the same shape.
It is experienced as happiness,
Delight and bliss.
Anandamaya Kosha.
These five bodies are called Kosha in Sanskrit.
And each fits in the next like a sword in a scabbard.
The densest,
The most obvious one is made of matter and the other four are energy states invisible to the naked eye.
But we can sense the presence inside as we pay close attention.
Since the inner bodies are the source of our well-being and they are the vehicles we travel in after death.
The ancient sages and saints developed specific exercises to strengthen and tone each one in turn.
These are not some theoretical constructs.
They are some real parts to your being that you can actually experience.
I'm going to lead you through an exercise that will help you get a fuller sense of each of these inner dimensions of your personality.
Making sure that you are sitting comfortably,
The neck,
The head,
The trunk,
All on a straight line.
I call it like a string of pearls.
Imagine your vertebrae.
It's like a string of pearls that is aligned.
You're alert but you're not straining.
You're awake and relaxed.
Making sure your eyes are closed,
Withdrawing your senses from the sights and the sounds around you.
Bring your full attention to your physical body.
Becoming aware of your head,
Shoulders,
Your chest,
The waist,
The back,
The hips,
Your legs,
Your arms.
This is your Anumayakosha,
The physical body.
As I speak this affirmation for your physical body,
Feel into this experience.
I tune into my physical body,
Giving myself time to be silent and I listen.
I am kind to any ailments and nourish my muscles,
Bones and organs.
I accept my body as it is right now.
I am grateful for what it makes possible for me.
Bring your attention now to the point between your nostrils and feel yourself breathe.
As you've been doing this practice,
You feel your breath slowing,
Becoming more smooth.
Become aware of the energy pulsing through your body.
This prana is making your heart beat,
Your lungs expand and contract.
The blood courses through your veins.
Prana makes your stomach gurgle.
This force orchestrating all this movement is not your physical body,
It's your Pranamayakosha.
This is affirmation that I breathe deeply and exhale what doesn't serve me.
I inhale new energy.
I allow my breath to fill my whole body.
As I breathe in,
My body brightens and as I breathe out,
My body softens.
I walk into a deep slumber,
Just as Ilong and slowlyEdge in and below my feet.
I slowlyEdge my might,
Ilonet in and below厚 my Now shift your awareness into your brain.
Pay attention to the part of your awareness that's regulating your sensory input and motor output.
This is the part of you that notices your nose is itching or orders your hand to scratch it.
It notes that you're uncomfortable sitting in one position for so long and wants you to move your legs.
It generates the reflexive mental chatter that continually fires through your mind.
This is your Manomaya Kosha.
I want you to drop into this affirmation.
I breathe into stillness and I let thoughts come and go.
I recognize that thoughts inform emotions and emotions inform my breath and my breath influences my physical body.
I accept my life as it is.
I seek to end resistance that I may be holding towards certain things and let things be as they are.
I want you to lift your awareness higher inside your skull.
Sense the part of your awareness that consciously made the decision to participate in this meditation today and is right now commanding you to sit still and complete it.
It recognizes the value of expanding your self-awareness and compels you to get up early in the morning and do your Hatha Yoga meditation even though lazing in bed might feel more pleasant.
This is your Vijnanamaya Kosha.
Drop into this awareness as I speak it.
I am always more than I think I am.
I have everything I need within me.
I am curious,
Childlike and I am open to new learning always.
I live my truth and speak up for what I believe in.
I am the Constitutionales Now center your awareness in your heart.
Relax deeply,
Keeping the breathing smooth and even.
Now taking as much time as you need to allow yourself to settle in a state of complete tranquility.
Buried deep in the inner peace is a sense of purest joy.
This is not some emotional euphoria,
Though as you leave the state it may pour out of you as a sense of gratitude and great bliss.
It is a space of perfect contentment,
Perfect attunement and stillness,
Deep stillness.
There is no sense of lack or fear or desire.
This is your Anandamayakosha.
Drop into this experience that I am one with all things.
My life is my purpose.
I am made of more than matter.
I am the earth and sky,
Sun and sea,
Space and light,
Consciousness.
As I breathe in,
The universe breathes out.
As I breathe out,
The universe breathes in.
Now become aware of your own awareness,
The pure consciousness that is having this experience.
The pure consciousness that is beyond this experience.
It is your true inner self.
As your immortal being,
Rest in your own being for as long as you want.
As your inner being,
Rest in your own being for as long as you want.
The gross body disintegrates at death.
The subtle body disintegrates at rebirth,
Allowing you to develop a new personality in your new life.
The causal body reincarnates again and again,
Carrying your karma with you.
You become liberated.
This baggage disintegrates.
When you tune in,
Connect your spirit with the supreme being,
Allowing your karma to melt away under the fire of the supreme sun.
Some of segued the кварly so-and-so is nothing but blows a And return very gently to your breath.
Breathing slowly,
Deeply and evenly.
At your own pace,
I invite you to open your eyes and observe the experience how it has shifted everything both inside and around you.
I invite you to go ahead and share your experience in one word in the comment section.
