If you have a hard time falling sleep or getting deep, rejuvenating rest, you must listen to this series. Getting a Good Night's Rest guided meditation series has seven parts, intended to be listened to on seven (preferably consecutive) days. It is derived from my research over the past 20 years on getting maximum rejuvenation and waking up feeling your very best. The practice includes tips from neuroscience, sleep hygiene, yoga techniques and ancient spiritual practices.

Welcome to day six of Sleeping Well.

We sleep in cycles of 90 minutes each night.

If you have limited hours,

Plan your sleep by calculating the number of complete cycles that you can get that night.

A broken sleep cycle makes you feel worse than waking up before it begins.

In today's meditation,

We will practice giving light to our body.

For this first,

I want you to imagine a point of light,

A little soft glow,

Right at the seat of consciousness.

By that I mean where your thoughts and memories are seated.

Light in the center of the forehead,

Right behind where the eyebrows meet.

Imagine a soft white glow.

Now shine this light throughout the body.

Let it spread,

Starting from the brain.

Let the light fill and surround the brain.

Feel the eyes from behind and fill and surround it.

The front of the face,

The nose,

The lips,

The chin,

The ears,

The cheeks,

The back of the head,

The palate.

At this point,

The entire head space is filled with this white light.

Now let the light flow down through the throat passage into the chest region.

The light touches and surrounds the heart.

Fills the lungs,

The stomach,

The intestines,

The liver,

The kidneys,

And then down into the hip region.

Now let the light go down through both the legs,

Through the thighs,

Through the knees,

Through the shins,

Ankles,

Through the feet,

Through the toes.

Now starting from the shoulders,

Let this light go down through both the shoulders,

Through the arms,

Biceps,

Triceps,

Elbows,

Forearm,

Through the wrist,

Palms,

And then fingers.

At this point,

The entire body space is filled with this white light.

It's a healing light,

Which is why the root word of meditation and medication is the Latin word medere,

Which means to heal.

Notice how you feel right now.

Let's check back in tomorrow.

Have a good night's rest.

Thank you.
