Freedom from guilt.

When we think and act against our conscience,

In each case the basic message is guilt.

The feeling of guilt is the sign that we have acted against the true note of our being,

Which is essentially what is true.

Not to be confused with the guilt that others would like us to feel so they can manipulate our feelings and therefore our behavior.

A guilty conscience is always worth taking note of and inquiring into its cause.

But the guilt that comes up as a reaction to someone else's judgment of us deserves to be ignored.

It can take time to break out of this mindset as both parents at home and managers at work often learn to induce our guilt to get us to act in ways that they want.

And when they do seem to be successful in exploiting our guilt,

They create the illusion that they are able to control others.

Guilt and a guilty conscience creates its own self-perpetuating image which is,

I am a person who does bad things,

Which eventually becomes,

I am a bad person.

It is in this negative self-image that another face of the ego will come to reside.

Any suggestion that we are an innately good person,

A being who is a source of goodness in life,

That is a source of love and joy,

Will be resisted in order to sustain that negative self-image.

Which means the conscience which is simply designed to signal us when we wear off course has been hijacked by the ego and poisoned by the idea that guilt is necessary in life,

That guilt is natural.

Guilt is good,

So get used to it.

Notice at the core of your being any traces of this guilt that you have been carrying,

Perhaps for a very long time.

And as you observe,

Notice the source of that guilt.

Has it come from the inside out,

Where our conscience is speaking and telling us that we need to get back on course?

Why does it have been imposed on us from others in an attempt to control how we feel?

In either case,

Learn and grow and drop the baggage of guilt.

Consciousness needs to be a regular exercise so that we can live the lightness of being a joyful spirit.

그렇게 prest Thank you.

Hah, It starts so simple; guilt is your conscious speaking, ooor there’s a good chance it’s from others trying to manipulate you. Your job is to regularly discern which. So this 29th lesson is a lifelong assignment? Ok got it. 🌿🙏🏼

Enlightened distinction. I seem to have it all tangled together. How to unravel the yarn ball is the challenge.

I found this to be very interesting indeed Jay. This is a topic worthy of exploring more deeply to gain more insight and understanding to free oneself of the guilt from others and themselves. I’ve never really thought about it in the way you presented it here in correlation to the ego, yet it makes so much sense. Thank you. ✨💫💖

Exceptional insight for me today… separating the two types of guilt in my life, this is a very powerful revelation to me and has created a major understanding of some past events. I now have a deep knowing of the secret that has been hidden to me - the secret to letting go FULLY and COMPLETELY… I realise that some things which I have “let go” are only 99% gone, I finally have the missing “tool” to remove the tiny hidden remains of guilt… Beautiful, thank you 🙂

Where did I learn the guilt that is associated with self-care such as going to bed late or early rising early or late oh, the guilt that's associated with exercising or not, taking the time for self-care versus guilt around that ... maybe from my parents workaholic attitudes? That nothing is important unless it is work. Nothing is respected unless you are paid for it and receive recognition. This is the exact opposite of my high drive to be of service - betterment of society and the world, and to do so you absolutely must put on your oxygen mask first and do self care. Thank God my recovery teaches me the exact opposite of what my parents did and that this FALSE guilt is misleading and not a helpful road sign, to check it out before heading. But of course through their (and workaholic society/consumerism) lack of respect for my choices they basically abandon me. Thank God I can rest in my recovery family and in the hands of my God. my God is big enough today, bigger than my parents but of course it doesn't take away the pain and the loss. But it's also their loss... There are plenty who appreciate my efforts and benefit from. They just aren't biologically related. All is never lost! This meditation helped me to explore this serenely rather than avoid or ignore.
