Namaste dear one,
This is J Chodakam.
Today is a practice of attention with an object of focus.
Most of the time we stop ourselves from seeing what's really going on outside of us or use the filters that we put in place and what we see is only a projection of what we want to see out in nature.
To be able to see things for what they are,
What we need to do is sit down and just go to that zero point,
That place of quietness inside where we can have a true relationship and understand what is going on around us.
This meditative practice is an incredible way to clear yourself out so you can be there in the present state,
In true relationship.
Now for the next 10 minutes or so,
I invite you to leave aside all distractions,
There's nothing more important to do,
Nowhere else to be,
Because this is your time.
Become very comfortable,
Relaxed,
Yet alert.
You're welcome to do this practice either seated on a chair,
Cross-legged on the floor or lying down.
If you're on a chair,
Firmly plant your feet on the ground,
Rest your arms on your knees or on your lap or if you're lying down,
Lay them besides you,
Palms open,
Facing up.
Let there be a straight line between your head,
Your neck and your spine.
Drop the shoulders,
Release the jaw,
Relax the face and soften the belly.
Let your eyes close or simply downshift your gaze and bring your awareness to your breath.
Notice the breath without really changing anything.
Notice the inhalation,
The pause between the in and out.
Notice the exhalation and the pause between out and in.
Just observe without really trying to change anything.
Now bring the focus of your attention to your third eye,
The seat of consciousness,
And stay with your attention here.
Now for any reason if this does not feel comfortable,
Pick any other object of your focus,
Perhaps your belly button rising and falling with each passing breath or the tip of your nostrils as the air goes in and out,
Whatever it is.
Stay with one object of your focus.
This is a way to quiet the mind.
When you give a treat to a monkey,
The monkey goes up and down till it becomes tired,
Then it finally rests and in that resting,
Insight awakens.
Inevitably your mind will wander and each time it does,
Gently bring it back to the object of concentration.
You stay with the practice and I'll watch the time.
Now ever so gently,
At your own pace,
Please bring your palms together in prayer position at your heart center.
Notice the freshness of the present moment.
In this present moment,
The past is gone and the future is not yet born.
This is pure mindfulness where any disturbing thoughts may come but they will go without leaving a trace.
Now rub your palms against each other,
Kindling the chi and when you feel a nice warm ball of energy welled up,
Go ahead and cup your eyes,
One with each palm and bless yourself.
I am lovable.
I have the power to hit refresh.
I have the power to protect and renew my energy.
Go ahead and bring your palms back together in prayer position and notice how you feel right now.
I thank you for joining me in this practice.
Until then,
This is Jay Chodakam wishing you love and lightness.
Namaste.
