Namaste dear one,
Today we will do a practice on letting go.
The root of suffering,
As Buddha said,
Is attachment.
You have created a space in your mind that holds a person or object as part of you.
When that person or object is criticized,
Neglected,
Or not with you,
You feel pain in your mind and you experience a sense of loss.
If you want to be truly happy,
You must learn to love and appreciate while remaining independent.
Always let go as soon as you're aware that you haven't.
Let go.
No matter what it is,
Learn to let it go.
The bigger it is,
The higher the reward of letting go,
And the worse the fall if you don't.
It's pretty black and white.
You either let go or you don't.
There really isn't anything in between.
That which is holding you down can become a powerful force that raises you up.
You just have to be willing to take the ascent.
Now for the next 10 minutes or so,
I invite you to leave aside all distractions.
There's nowhere more important to be,
Nothing more important to do.
This is your time.
So make sure that there will be no interruptions of any kind.
Find a comfortable posture,
Whether you're seated or laying down.
Become relaxed,
Yet alert.
Go ahead and rest your arms on your knees,
On your lap,
Or lay them beside you,
And make sure there's an alignment between your head,
Your neck,
And your spine.
Drop the jaw,
Unfurl the brow,
Relax the shoulders,
And soften the belly.
Now if you haven't already done so,
Go ahead and gently downshift your gaze or close your eyes as you bring your attention to your breath.
Take a nice deep inhale into the belly,
Noticing it rise and expand like a bagpipe,
And as you exhale,
Squeezing every last ounce of air out,
Coming out from the mouth.
Breath is a powerful anchor to bring you into the present moment,
To the now.
Do a deep belly breathing,
And you will notice that your mind begins to slow down,
Your body begins to relax,
Your heart rate begins to normalize.
Notice dropping into pure awareness of being.
See if you can feel the separation of what is and what your mind is trying to make of it.
Now I want you to think of something that is really bothering you,
Something that you are finding very hard to let go.
Now ask yourself this question,
If I had a week left to live,
Would I value this?
I call this the life test mantra.
If I had a week left to live,
Would I value this?
Ultimately,
The only three things that really matter in life are how much you loved,
How well you lived,
And how gracefully you learned to let go.
Now I invite you to drop this practice and just enjoy the pure stillness of being.
I'll watch the time.
Now at your own pace,
Ever so gently,
Please bring your palms together in prayer position at your heart center,
And rub your palms against each other,
Kindling the prana or the chi.
And when you feel there's a nice ball of energy welled up between your palms,
I invite you to cup both your eyes,
One with each palm,
And bless yourself.
May I be free.
May I be happy.
May I be at peace.
Now please bring your palms back together at your heart center and notice how you feel right now.
I thank you for joining me in this practice.
This is Jai Chodakam,
Wishing you a beautiful day.
Namaste.
