Embrace the New Year with heartfulness. This guided meditation encourages deep connection and compassion, setting a harmonious tone for a fulfilling journey ahead. I intend it to be both an introduction to the novice meditator while inviting those with experience to sharpen their skills and learn creative new techniques. The goal of this challenge is to make a commitment to yourself for 21 days, with hopes of it turning into a consistent habit post-challenge. My purpose in creating this series and making it highly accessible is to generate collective momentum to intentionally release the massive challenges of the past two years so we might enter the New Year with clarity of mind and a commitment to the simple daily practices that support us to show up as our highest selves.

Namaste and welcome.

My name is Jay Chaturagam.

If you do this practice for 21 days in a row,

It will have a significant impact on your quality of life.

It takes 21 days to make any practice a habit.

And meditation is no different.

Today's session is on the theme of heartfulness.

You're torn between two options,

One risky,

The other safe.

There's a part of you that is saying,

Go for it,

While there's something that's asking you to hold off.

So what's more powerful in influencing your decisions?

Is it your head or your heart?

Have you learned to know the difference between the voice of the head and that of the heart?

Cultivating awareness of the hidden dimension of our humanity is heartfulness.

And a racing mind that reacts sensitively to little things indicates that the heart is dormant,

That it has lost its spiritual strength.

Meditation is a way to restore that power.

And when your heart is engaged and you've developed an intimacy with it,

It can be as wide as the world.

The way to develop that intimacy is by opening up and befriending silence.

The silence allows different parts of yourself that normally do not talk to each other to have a conversation.

It is like a love affair.

And so this meditation is an invitation to a love affair with yourself.

It doesn't matter if you're new or old to this love affair.

I invite you not to just stand at the door of your heart,

But enter it.

The heart is a place to come back to.

And when you're in your heart space,

It is a reboot for all of humanity.

There is an amazing creativity and innovation that comes when we realize that love is what rules the world and that we are all interconnected.

As we prepare to dive into our heart space,

I invite you to sit in a place that has got as little distractions as possible.

A soft lighting gives a chance for you to calm your thoughts.

Make sure you're very comfortable,

Relaxed,

Yet alert.

You could be doing this practice either seated on a chair,

Cross-legged on the floor,

Or even lying down.

Whatever the posture you take,

Make sure that your back is straight,

That line between your head,

Neck,

And your spine.

If you're sitting on a chair,

Make sure that your feet are comfortably planted on the ground.

Put your arms on your knees or on your lap or lay them next to you,

Palms open,

Facing upwards.

Unclench your jaw,

Relax the face,

Drop the shoulders,

And let the entire body relax.

Let your eyelids gently drift closed as you bring your awareness to your breath.

Breath is that anchor that brings you to the present moment,

To the now.

Now with your mind's eye,

I invite you to imagine a transparent sphere.

This sphere represents your consciousness.

The inner surface of the sphere represents your mind.

It's a screen that is all around you,

The self-aware self.

And inside,

At the very center of the sphere,

Is a ball of light.

This light represents your spiritual heart,

The core of your being.

Now connecting the ball of light,

Which is your heart,

To the surface of the sphere,

Which is your mind,

Is a line along which there is a movable eye.

And this eye represents your intellect.

You,

The self-aware self,

Can move the eye of your intellect along the line,

Sometimes using the mind in a rational process of thinking things through,

On the screen.

Or you,

The self-aware self,

Can bring your inner eye down to the other end of the line,

To the heart of your being,

The core of your consciousness.

It is from this center of consciousness where intuition,

That is intuitive feelings,

Arise.

You,

The self-aware self,

Can move easily between the two,

Using the intellect in either mode,

The rational mode of thinking,

Or the intuitive mode.

The rational mode requires more thought generation,

Where you're thinking up possibilities.

And the intuitive mode requires whitening of the mind,

Whitening so that there can be clear awareness,

Awareness of what is being felt,

Perceived,

At a deeper and more subtle level.

So practice turning your eye and going up to the screen of the mind,

Or down to the knowingness,

The intuitive mode.

This practice will be profoundly useful when you are dealing with a decision,

Any decision that you need to make in life.

Bring yourself to the center,

To that light of awareness,

And become very still in that place.

It is from this epicenter of your being that you're looking through these eyes.

It is from here that you're listening through these ears.

You are an eternal being with no beginning and no end.

Your natural form is light.

Your original language is silence.

The original religion of the soul is love,

And the original home of the soul is light.

You are a peaceful,

Pure,

Eternal,

Loving being.

In this state of soul consciousness,

There is awakening.

Notice how you feel right now.

Once said,

One day we will learn that the heart can never be totally right if the head is totally wrong.

Only through bringing both the head and the heart intelligence together,

There is goodness.

And from that balance shall man rise to a fulfillment of his true nature.

Until then,

This is Jay Chaturagam wishing you a peaceful day and a peaceful life.

Namaste.
