Discover your purpose in the New Year with our meditation track. Dive into self-reflection, find your 'why,' and embark on a fulfilling journey of clarity and motivation. I intend it to be both an introduction to the novice meditator while inviting those with experience to sharpen their skills and learn creative new techniques. The goal of this challenge is to make a commitment to yourself for 21 days, with hopes of it turning into a consistent habit post-challenge. My purpose in creating this series and making it highly accessible is to generate collective momentum to intentionally release the massive challenges of the past two years so we might enter the New Year with clarity of mind and a commitment to the simple daily practices that support us to show up as our highest selves.

Welcome dear soul,

This is J Chodakam.

Thank you for joining me in this practice today on finding your why.

Before you set off into intentions and goals and working on manifesting your dreams,

First clarify your purpose.

Why do you want to meditate in the first place?

If you've chosen to meditate today,

There must be something you're seeking.

Dig deeper into what that is.

Why is that important to you?

What is at stake if you do not meditate?

Paint a vivid picture of how your life would change for the better if you do,

Because your motivation won't be 100% the same as others.

So own it.

As we prepare to dive into this practice,

Let's take some long slow deep breaths into our belly and let it all out through the mouth.

Nice long slow deep breaths in through the nostrils down into the abdomen,

Noticing the belly swell and out through the mouth.

One more long slow deep breath in through the nostrils into the bottom of your abdomen and let it all out.

Now go to downshift your gaze or close your eyes and sit with this question for a minute.

Why do I want to meditate?

There are many ways you can live your purpose.

Let me be clear,

Your purpose is not your job title.

Your job could be one of the many ways you live your purpose.

Now remember it's not what you do.

We're talking about why you do what you do.

So this is not your job title.

So as we reflect on this,

We're not trying to come up with some catchy one-liner that sounds cool.

We're gonna go much deeper here.

Living with purpose is a moment-to-moment practice.

Let the mantra for the rest of this practice be,

How can I serve?

Pick any area of your life that you're wanting to bring a deeper sense of purpose.

It can be a relationship,

Job or passion project.

Really any aspect of your life.

There may be many but for now just pick one.

How can I serve?

How can I serve?

How could I use my gifts,

Talents and wisdom to make a difference?

How can I serve?

Just listen.

If your mind begins to wander,

Gently bring it back to this inquiry.

How can I serve?

Peel away the superficial layers and try to go deeper.

How can I serve?

Stay with this question.

This is your pathway to your purpose.

Even if you didn't get some big magical answer,

Take what you got from this and pin it.

Because little by little,

Day after day,

Step by step,

These answers take you towards your purpose.

If meditation ever feels like a chore to you,

Come back to this practice as it'll be incredibly helpful to keep you going.

And when you truly internalize,

When the penny drops,

It will become an integral habit.

Just like brushing your teeth.

Now go ahead and drop this practice and let's take some deep breaths in together and let it all out.

It was an honor to do this practice with you.

This is J Chodakam wishing you an abundant year ahead.

Namaste
