We have no power or control over what anyone else feels or chooses. The only power we have is what we choose. So choose happiness and freedom and know that both are in your own hands and no one else’s. You do not have to be ‘good’ – and you do not need to please anyone else. You already are good and infinitely worthy of love. Love is unconditional. It doesn’t require you to ‘do’ or ‘be’ anything in order to be deserving of receiving it. The greatest gift we can give ourselves – and others – is to take back responsibility for ourselves and our own happiness.

Let's begin this meditation with a few deep breaths.

Notice how you inhale deeply and out fully.

Maybe even noticing how your belly or chest move as you breathe.

See if you can stay present as best as you can and when your mind wanders,

Just guide it back kindly and gently.

And then just try and find a natural rhythm of breathing.

Allow your breath to flow in and out as it normally does.

Because your body knows exactly how to breathe and we can just trust that our breathing is perfect as it is.

Today's meditation is about pleasing others.

A lot of us have the tendency to always please others,

But it's not really our job to please others.

It often comes from our childhood and it can be a bad habit to break,

But it is possible to break.

And if you would listen to this meditation more regularly,

You might find that this is becoming easier and easier for you.

As you notice your breath flowing in and out of your body,

Just check that you are also sitting or lying comfortable.

This means that you are taking care of yourself,

Which is an act of love towards yourself,

Bringing kindness to ourselves.

We often find it easier to be kind to others,

But it's more important that we start to actually really be kind to ourselves.

Even if this is something not so familiar and it seems a little bit strange,

But you can try.

Trying is all we can do and doing the best we can.

The greatest gift we can give ourselves and others is to take back responsibility for ourselves and our own happiness.

And that way we give others back responsibility for theirs,

Because it's not our job to please anyone else.

It is our job to choose which serves our highest purpose and then we can act from there,

Regardless of whether someone else agrees or approves.

If you now think that next time when you feel like pleasing someone else,

You would actually take responsibility and learn to say no with kindness.

When you know that the best thing to say is no,

Then honouring that,

Honouring your intuition and whatever is best for you and then only doing that much,

Which is required or which is best,

And saying no to the rest and leaving what's not required.

Not overworking or doing too much,

Rather honouring yourself,

Being kind to yourself and firmly but gently and kindly refusing to do more than what is required.

How does it feel if you now think that this is what you would do or could do next time?

This next time could start today.

Taking back your power,

Your responsibility and practising kindness towards yourself.

And this way we also nurture ourselves.

We give back to ourselves.

That might be a little bit foreign or seems a little strange to you,

But you totally deserve this because you are perfect as you are and you are good enough.

Repeating now a sentence like I am good enough and I am worthy of self love being loved.

Love is unconditional and I deserve to be loved.

I can learn to accept myself as I am.

I can learn to love myself as I am.

We have no power or control over what anyone else feels or chooses.

The only power we have is what we choose.

So from today on choose happiness and freedom.

And know that both of these are in your hands and no one else.

You do not have to be good and you do not need to please anyone else.

You already are good and infinitely worthy of love.

Love is unconditional.

It doesn't require you to do or be anything in order to be deserving of receiving it.

You already are good and infinitely worthy of love.

You are love and it is your very essence.

It is not possible for you to be anything else.

Embrace the love you are and release all else.

It is the first step in the journey back home to the truth of who we all are,

To the truth of who you are.

Infinite love,

Creativity,

Joy,

Well-being,

Abundance,

Freedom,

Growth and grace.

You are perfect as you are.

I would like to finish today's meditation with a quote.

You do not become good by trying to be good,

But by finding the goodness that is already within you.

Thank you for this practice. It was a blessing to be reminded that when I am trying to please others it is often rooted in the things I believe about my worth and how I am treating myself, also.

Thank you! There are NO accidents! This morning, I stumbled on your lovely meditation, knowing I needed that message. Being brought up n the 50's I was made to please everyone, my needs were not considered. Now, in my 7th decade, I am still trying to please. However, I am just beginning to learn to say, NO! Your lovely meditation just gave me further encouragement to continue letting go! I am a very outgoing, happy person, but, sometimes give too much! Rebecca
