As human beings,
We crave certainty and order.
So when our world is turned upside down by factors beyond our control,
It's only natural that we may find ourselves engulfed in emotions of fear,
Anxiety and sadness.
To survive in an increasingly unpredictable world,
We must find the calm within the chaos.
Take your way into a comfortable seat,
Sit up tall and rest your hands on your knees or on your lap.
While it's closed and heavy,
Prepare for time within.
Begin with a clear and quiet mind.
There is no other place you need to be,
Nothing else requires your attention.
Start to relax your entire body.
Notice if you are holding or gripping anywhere.
Are your shoulders tense?
Are you gripping your fingers or your toes?
Are you clenching your glutes?
Relax.
Let go of any stiffness,
Any resistance.
Relax.
Continue to sit up nice and straight and begin to imagine space between each vertebra.
Find stillness and silence.
Now take a moment to check in.
Notice,
Honour,
Recognise what emotions are coming up for you.
Now I want you to imagine you are stepping out of your physical body.
Turn around and look back at yourself as if from the outside looking in,
As if your being was separate to your body.
See if you can also detach your thoughts and emotions from your physical body.
Stay here for a few moments,
Allowing yourself to just be.
Start to shift your awareness to the gentle rhythm of your breath.
Breathe in and out through your nose.
As you inhale,
Draw the breath deep down into your lungs and into your belly,
Letting it blow up like a balloon.
Watch how your belly expands and lifts as you breathe in and softens and retracts as you breathe out.
Focus on deep inhalations and long exhalations.
Really listen to the sound of your breath,
Like the sound of a wave gently rolling onto the seashore.
Connect to your ocean breath.
Allow it to become almost hypnotic as you watch the air flowing in and flowing out.
In and out.
In and out.
Breathing in a sensation of ease and relaxation.
Breathing out any remaining tension,
Worries,
Cares.
Let the warmth of relaxation flow throughout your entire being,
From the top of your head all the way down to the tips of your toes.
Release the breath and find your way to the quiet centre of your being.
Your body relaxed,
Your emotions calm,
Your mind peaceful and spacious.
Once more,
Become entirely still.
You have arrived.
You have arrived to your inner home of peace and harmony.
Stay here for a few moments.
Whenever the world around you is in need of peace and harmony,
Stay here for a few moments.
When the world around you is in chaos,
Know that you can always retreat to this sacred space within,
A place of eternal peace and tranquility.
This is a safe space,
A place to recalibrate and reset,
Available to you whenever you need it.
Take two full breaths.
I invite you to bring a gentle smile to your lips,
A smile to your heart and a smile in your mind.
May you be happy and healthy.
