Many of us rarely take more than a couple deep breaths during an entire day.

If you're not taking deep breaths,

You could be missing out on one of the most simplest ways to drastically improve your health.

Being stress fit is an important key for improving your health and quality of living.

Deep breathing exercises are a foundational principle of managing life's stresses.

In this meditation,

You will learn to take in long,

Deep breaths,

Which will oxygenate your body and optimize cellular behavior.

Find a comfortable position for this meditation.

Bend a nice,

Straight back and gently close your eyes and mouth.

An ancient Buddhist proverb reads,

Deep breathing brings deep thinking and shallow breathing and shallow thinking.

Let's begin by placing one hand on your chest and the other on your abdomen.

When you take a deep breath in,

The hand on the abdomen should rise higher than the one on the chest.

This ensures that the diaphragm is pulling air into the bottom of your lungs.

After exhaling through the nose,

Take a slow,

Deep breath in through your nose,

Imagining that you are sucking in all the air in the room and hold it for a count of seven or as long as you are able,

Not exceeding seven.

Slowly,

Exhale through your nose.

Slowly exhale through your nose for a count of eight.

As all the air is released with relaxation,

Gently contract your abdominal muscles to completely evacuate the remaining air from your lungs.

It is important to remember that we deepen respirations not by inhaling more air,

But through completely exhaling it using our diaphragm.

Repeat the cycle for the next few moments.

Try to breathe at a rate of one breath every ten seconds or six breaths per minute.

As you exhale through your nose,

Take a deep breath in through your nose,

Imagining that you are sucking in all the air in the room and hold it for a count of eight.

At this rate,

Our heart rate variability increases,

Which has a positive effect on cardiac health.

Now,

Follow my count.

This really helped me today with a bout of asthma. Amazing what we take for granted until we don't have it. Even tho I couldn't make it all the way to 7, toward the end I could get to 6. Thank you. I will come back here. 🧘‍♀️🕉️ Namaste

Thank you for a great meditation but I could only do 4 breaths in before having to hold the rest before breathing out, doing a little better breathing out sometimes but being in too much of a heap to get my breath started in time again. I had to opt out sometimes for a rest! Oh dear! Perhaps it will get easier!

Thank you really good. I have questions. 1 I struggled to maintain out breath for 8. More like 6, does our body size play a role. I'm very small. 2. At times I felt as if I was breathing in and out at the same time. Or holding my breath as well as breathing out or in. .I have experienced trauma in childhood and wonder if this is linked? I have been wanting simplicity and to get right back to breath. Thank you this feels spacious!
