Care for your body.

Each of us has three forms of energy at our disposal.

Physical,

Mental and spiritual.

And while all our energies are connected and integrated,

Our starting point as we explore these resources is our physical energy,

Our body.

The moment we forget who or what we are and start identifying with the form that we occupy is the exact same moment our physical health will begin to deteriorate.

A paradox that in order to find balance and well-being at a physical level,

We need to end our identification with a form that we occupy,

This body.

If we allow our physical senses to rule our life,

There is the danger that our energy,

Our power,

Our inner resources will be drained and unavailable for our use.

When we believe we are our body,

We will come to believe that physical feelings,

That are sensations are our primary feelings.

These feelings come only when there is physical stimulation through one of the five senses of the body.

Various forms of stimulation seem to make us feel happy.

We confuse happiness with stimulation and we then come to believe happiness can only come from outside our body.

So we start to seek stimulation through one of our body's five physical senses.

In time,

We will come to need more stimulation to sustain what we have come to believe are the sources of happy feelings.

Craving,

Independency or certain stimulants set in and become habits.

The belief that we are our body and the resulting craving for sensual stimulation easily skews our decisions about what we put into our body.

That combined with the negative thoughts based on not getting our stimulants can easily join forces to affect our physical health,

A threat to our stimulating life.

So drop the delusion.

Reaffirm your true identity of being the spirit or soul that animates this body.

This body is just a vehicle.

I am not my body. I am not my anxiety. I am grateful for my body. I am grateful when my anxiety is warning me for my safety and has in past. I'm grateful that my body stays vigilant because it wants to preserve the Me inside, and keep her safe. I'm grateful we are learning to discern when events are truly threats or not. Last night going to the ER was legitimate. Many other instances are not. I'm grateful the angst gives me the energy to handle the crises at hand. Learning to channel it is key. As a person who hasn't used substances to change how I feel in 15 years, this is very real, to sit with it, witness, validate, and truly"hear" this angst without numbing and instead ask, what is it you need to feel safe? Can I give that to myself? Yes, I'm important enough in God's plan to give that self care to myself so I can be of maximum service... Like the adult putting the oxygen mask on first before helping others/child... checking in... How am I feeling. Then, Asking for what I need from myself first, then from others if necessary. And as my mentor says I'm too be very clear with my requests from others, maybe I will try to be very clear with my request if myself first... And to do either I must first be clear on what I want or need. For that I am responsible. I'm good with that. Thank you Jay. I will listen to this as reminder when I'm anxious.
