Welcome to this meditation that is about feeling all parts of you.
Often we have an idea of ourselves,
Who we think we are,
The parts of us we're comfortable sharing with others,
And most of the time we can appear this way.
When we're around people,
Maybe you're more comfortable being joyful,
Bubbly around others,
But when you feel sad or a little bit depressed,
Lonely,
You might not want to share that part of you.
And these parts become the disowned,
Unloved parts of us.
For example,
You might feel unworthy.
There might be a part of you.
Notice I'm saying it's not who you are,
It's a part of you.
It exists within you.
Part of you feels unworthy,
Doesn't believe you deserve all the good things in life,
But you're so much more comfortable in giving rather than receiving.
Or maybe a part of you feels deeply lonely,
Deeply separate.
Or maybe a part of you feels shame around who you are,
Around an aspect of yourself.
We're so complex as human beings,
We're not one way or another,
It's not black and white.
We have all the colors within us.
And what happens is when we own and feel and really give space to love these parts of ourselves,
We are free.
We set ourselves free.
Rather than walking in eggshells in your consciousness going,
Ooh,
I can feel this,
But not quite that,
Rather than being on guard in feeling fear around what might come up,
You have freedom to go anywhere,
To feel anything.
No part of you is left unexplored,
Unfelt.
That's freedom.
It's freedom to be who you are in any given moment,
Welcoming all of you with open arms,
With an open heart.
So this meditation is for you to feel those parts,
Not to fix them,
Not to do anything about them,
But to really just be with them.
That is what makes a difference.
Not changing them,
Not fixing them,
Just feeling them,
Being with them.
This might feel uncomfortable.
This might bring up resistance for you.
You might go,
Nah,
Nah,
Nah,
We're not going there.
You know,
Whatever comes up,
Just take a deep breath in,
And just keep going,
Keep allowing,
Know that this is absolutely safe,
And this leads to your freedom,
Your personal freedom.
So when you're ready,
I want you to close your eyes.
I want you to place both of your feet on the ground,
Your body relaxed,
Arms relaxed,
Everything relaxed,
Sitting upright on your seat,
Your spine straight,
And taking a deep breath in now.
Deepest breath you've taken today.
And exhale,
Sighing out.
Another deep breath in,
Exhaling out,
Letting go.
One last deep breath in,
And let go.
And just noticing now where you're at right now in this given moment,
Whatever thoughts,
Feelings going on for you,
Just acknowledging that,
Knowing that it's just where you are right now.
Noticing any sensations in your body.
Just honouring where you're at,
And it doesn't mean anything,
It's just where you're at right now.
And then just choosing to receive the benefit of this meditation,
Choosing to be present with yourself,
To be open,
Or any other intentions you might have for this meditation.
So ask yourself,
What is a part of me that wasn't allowed to express when I was little?
What did I not feel free to express?
It could be an emotion,
It could be a trait,
Any part of you.
And whatever comes up,
Just welcoming that,
Allowing that.
If you're noticing a restriction,
A constricted sense of feeling in your chest,
Or anywhere in your body,
Taking a deep breath in,
And being with this part,
Part of you that didn't feel free to express itself when you were a little boy or girl,
And knowing that you can go there,
Safe to go there,
With the adult that you are today.
When you're there,
Asking if this part was a person,
And if they could speak right now,
What would they say to me?
If this part was a person,
And if they could speak right now,
What would they say to me?
What would they like to share with me?
And seeing this part as a person,
As a being,
And if this part was a person in real life,
How would I treat this part?
If I saw them as a person,
How would I treat this part?
And taking another deep breath in,
Letting go.
You can rewind this meditation and do it as many times as you like for different parts of you.
Really giving space and freedom to these parts to be felt,
To express themselves.
That's all they want.
They don't want any fixing,
They don't want any changing,
They just would like to be honored,
And felt,
And seen,
And heard as they are.
That's all they need.
And that will free you,
That will bring you back to yourself.
Connect with yourself,
Deeper and deeper.
