Here is an uncomfortable truth.
You are not your thought.
Which,
When you consider some of the thoughts that pass through the average human mind on any given Tuesday,
Is genuinely excellent news.
The anxious ones at 3 a.
M.
That are absolutely convinced the worst case scenario is not only possible but inevitable.
The catastrophic ones that arrive right before something important,
The self-critical ones that have been repeating the same script since approximately 1994,
And then the completely random ones,
The bizarre out-of-nowhere thoughts that make you look around the room and wonder if anyone else's brain does this.
All of that is happening in there.
Constantly.
And for most people,
The assumption,
Rarely examined,
Almost never questioned,
Is that those thoughts are them.
That they are the voice,
That whatever the internal commentary says about their worth,
Their future,
Their chances,
Their capabilities,
That is the truth about who they are.
It's not.
Here is a more accurate picture.
You are not the thought.
You are the awareness in which the thoughts arise.
You are the one who can notice the thoughts,
Observe them,
Question them,
And let them pass.
That capacity for observation,
That witness,
Is where you actually live.
And it is fundamentally separate from the content of what is being observed.
This is not a spiritual abstraction.
It's a practical distinction that changes everything once you actually feel it rather than just understand it intellectually.
Because the moment you move from being inside a difficult thought to being the one who is watching it.
Everything shifts.
The thought loses its authority.
You are no longer trapped inside its logic.
You have a choice.
About whether to follow it,
Challenge it,
Or simply let it move through like the weather.
And thoughts it turns out move through very quickly when you stop feeding them your full belief and attention The sky doesn't become the storm,
It holds it,
Watches it move through.
Remains wide,
Steady,
Unchanged after every cloud has passed.
You are the sky.
That has always been true.
The storms just made it easy to forget.
And this is your moment of truth.
For today.
