And it may be some time before any thought comes,

Just notice that.

And as you continue to drift down,

So calm,

So comfortable,

With your body and mind relaxed,

Your eyes closed,

With every breath,

Just feeling more relaxed.

And the more relaxed your body,

The calmer the mind.

The calmer the mind,

The deeper you go.

And just allowing yourself to go even deeper,

As deep as you feel you need today.

And floating,

Feeling from here and there,

As each part of the body continues to relax,

With every breath.

And you're feeling that peaceful feeling inside the body,

The blissful stillness,

So relaxed,

So calm.

Realising now that any symptoms from the body,

From any tension or anxiety that might come into your mind or body from time to time,

Are all just subjective experiences and sensations,

And we feel and experience them both emotionally and physically.

So before we take on the task of changing your emotional feelings and perceptions about those situations and events that may cause you anxiety or even panic,

We're first going to help you modify your physical feelings and sensations.

Because it's easier to modify objects,

We're going to do this by changing your unpleasant sensations into an object.

I'd like you to begin by taking that unpleasant sensation,

That panic or anxiety,

And picture or imagine it as an object.

Give it a shape,

And it can be abstract,

Or it can have sides,

Or a concrete shape,

Or something specific in your mind.

Or a balloon,

A ball,

Or any other object that comes into your mind.

It could even be like a puffy white cloud floating in the sky,

Fluttering and changing in refreshing breeze.

Whatever shape comes to your mind is the right shape for you,

The shape that you want this feeling to be.

Just continue to drift on down deeper and deeper.

And as you do,

You are realizing that the first shape that comes into your mind is the best shape for you.

And now concentrate on that shape and let it linger in your subconscious mind.

And as you drift on down deeper and deeper,

I'd like you to give that shape a color.

And now I'd like you to give that shape a size.

You might imagine that shape next to some object you know,

Or you can just give it a size by knowing its size.

You're realizing that this is a symbol of your feelings of intensity,

Or anxiety,

Or panic.

And you also know that the larger the shape is,

The more pronounced that feeling is.

And the smaller the shape,

The less.

You're also realizing that the less vivid the color or darker,

The less severe and significant that feeling is.

And you might already be playing with that shape,

Size or color.

So now I'd like you to practice changing the size of that shape or object.

Let's first make it a little bigger.

And then take a deep,

Relaxing breath and make that smaller now.

Smaller and smaller and smaller and smaller.

And if you have any difficulty making it smaller,

You can try a few techniques or tricks I'm going to suggest to you now.

For example,

If the shape is a balloon,

You can put a needle into it or kick it away or throw it away.

Or you could put it onto a boat or a truck or tie it to the tail of an airplane or bird and just let it go away.

Or you might be able to create or design other wonderful techniques to remove or reduce completely the shape now.

And do this now until you hear my voice again.

And watching it become smaller and smaller,

Disappearing,

You are realizing that this symbol now,

Becoming smaller and smaller,

Is associated with your feelings and sensations of intensity or anxiety or panic and they are becoming less intense.

All the uncomfortable feelings and sensations just floating away.

Like a tiny twig or leaf floating down a sparkling,

Bubbling mountain stream.

Or autumn leaves drifting down from a tree in a lazy breeze.

And you're knowing deep in your subconscious,

Realizing and remembering that you can make this symbol as small and as comfortable as you want it to be.

You're feeling that empowerment and as you are making it smaller and even smaller,

Anytime,

Anytime you desire to do so,

Just by taking a deep,

Lung-filling breath and allowing yourself that empowerment that is within you.

To change your perspective,

To take a breath and a pause each and every time now and in the future.

You'll be utilizing this technique and all the physical feelings and sensations of anxiety,

Panic or intensity becoming less and less.

And you find that the more you practice this technique,

The easier and more effective it becomes.

Until you find that it doesn't seem to bother you anymore.

You're feeling empowered,

You're feeling control.

And you're feeling that control also can mean surrender.

That it can mean anything that you want it to be.

That you're not attaching any emotions or feelings.

That you're just being.

That you're able to find peace and realizing that you can change that.

And the more you practice,

The easier it's becoming each and every time now and in the future.

Utilizing this technique and all the physical feelings and sensations of anxiety,

Intensity or panic becoming less and less.

And the technique becoming more and more effective,

Bringing peace and balance into your life.

Feeling that peace now with every breath.

Returning to that stillness,

That calm inside.

Feeling at one with yourself.

And keeping that deep knowing with you as I slowly count you out from one to five.

And at five you'll be feeling that peace,

You'll be feeling that empowerment,

Calmness,

Stillness.

Beginning with one,

Already relaxed,

Soft in the mind and body.

Slightly higher with two,

As you connect back to your consciousness slowly,

Gently.

With three,

Bringing that peace and empowerment back with you,

That bliss.

Becoming more and more aware of yourself.

The sense of sound inside and outside.

Connecting more to the sense of touch.

Wiggling fingers or toes or parts of the body to slowly connect you to your physical body.

Keeping your eyes closed a little longer.

With that four,

Taking a deep breath in.

And releasing at five,

Feeling back in the here and now,

Feeling peaceful and yet empowered.

And only in your own time when you feel ready,

Very gently and very slowly drawing your eyes back into the light of the room.
