So hi everybody,
It's Philip Wade here from the Universal Studio in North Yorkshire,
England.
And I'm just feeling called today to share a little bit about what I'm calling turning up for life.
And it actually relates to other things I've shared in the past called trusting and daring not to and natural or normal.
And in my trusting and daring not to,
The insight that I offered there is that by daring not to trust our heart's calling,
We actually suffer.
And by trusting the heart,
We open up to a deeper state of awareness and also much more joyful living.
In the context of turning up for life,
I'm sure we've all used the phrase at some point,
Something along the lines,
You know,
He or she didn't turn up.
Maybe it's to an event or something like that.
But also,
You can hear it quite a lot here in the UK,
Perhaps in relation to sporting events where there's two teams playing.
And one of them didn't really play very,
Very well.
And often one of the pundits will say they didn't turn up today.
The team that wasn't playing that well,
They didn't turn up.
Now,
The thing here is in relation to your life and the realisation of whom we really are,
Is that we are in fact life itself.
The question is,
Are we turning up for life?
That is,
Are we living from our hearts rather than our heads?
Because when we go with our head,
That's coming from a place of should,
Must,
Ought to.
It's contracting,
It's very obligatory in nature and actually leads us to struggling and moving forward with great effort in life.
Whereas when we go with the heart,
The inspiration that arises from that,
That energy is much more uplifting,
Inviting,
Expansive,
And actually can be surprising to us because it's coming from a deeper state of awareness.
And when we turn up for that and actually show up for that and actually follow that calling,
Life starts to flow more gracefully,
More effortlessly and more simply and in much more alignment and joyfully with that,
Which we truly are here to not only realise,
But express in our human form.
And as I said earlier,
It's by daring not to trust that,
That actually we suffer.
So the question is then,
Are we turning up for our hearts and are we turning up for our lives?
I remember many,
Many years ago now I attended an event and it was the second day and the person leading the event was saying to the group of people gathered,
You know,
What's here for you now,
What's here for you now?
And I felt really compelled to stand up and share something.
And as I was handed the mic to speak,
The words came out of my mouth before mind had a chance to edit them.
And it was this,
I feel like I've been hiding from my own brilliance all of my life.
And the guide leading that session wanted to understand more about that,
But kind of at that point,
My mind went completely blank.
And I was invited up onto the stage.
And after some discussion,
People were invited to share what they saw and had heard in what I'd said.
And the beauty and wonder of the comments and the things that people saw and were seeing in my true heartfelt expression were quite a joy and a surprise to behold.
And in fact,
A further element of the story was when it came to the break and I went to the loos during that break,
Various very men's men type men came up to me and said that was the bravest thing I'd ever seen anybody do.
And this was really quite a surprise to me.
And in fact,
I think one of them stood up in amongst a gathering of 100 people and actually said that.
And it was because I'd gone with what my heart was wanting to say and just let that come out unedited.
So in that moment,
I'd showed up for life,
Even though I'd realised that perhaps before that,
In many cases,
I'd not been allowing myself to do that.
And that happens to us all because of the conditioning that we experience in life.
Right from the moment you're born,
You become identified with this body mind and you're told that you're good at this,
Bad at that.
And more and more things get impressed upon you and projected on you.
And you start to limit this heart based expression and then thus you are not really turning up for life,
Following the calling of your heart.
But it is in following that calling that you will truly turn up because if you don't,
You will turn down life.
And life will then become compressed,
Contracted,
Should,
Must,
Ought to.
So there it is,
The choice,
My friends.
Will we turn down life or will we follow our hearts calling and turn up for life?
