00 Good morning,

Good afternoon,

Good evening,

A truly global Insight Timer welcome.

Thank you for being here.

Thank you for taking time for you with me and this lovely group.

Hi Carmel and to Dorota in Poland,

Welcome Dorota.

Folks feel free just to drop a quick hello and where you're from in the chat.

It's lovely to connect with like-minded souls in this very gentle practice.

Just 20 minutes,

25 minutes together.

Hello Kath,

Rini in Brisbane.

Look at that for a global audience already.

Kathy in Redditch up there in God's country,

Brisbane,

Poland,

Maisy Arawara,

Maisy I've got it.

You can't tell me I'm not pronouncing that right now.

Carol in Florida,

Wow,

Hello Carol.

And Enlightened Serenity,

If that is your Christian name,

You were blessed.

Hello Enlightened Serenity,

Lovely to have you with us in Ipswich,

Queensland.

We have an Ipswich here as well.

You probably know about that over on the east coast of the UK,

Southeast.

And Nancy in New York,

I won't do the accent Nancy,

I've tried it before,

It didn't go well,

But you're really welcome.

Always lovely to have you with us on time.

There you go.

Bless you all.

So thank you for being here.

That's not the end.

That would be the shortest and possibly poorest Insight Time Alive ever.

Just one minute and 58 seconds of hellos or maybe not.

This is a gentle practice,

A regular practice that I use myself and I've invited others to join me for on here for about four years now,

Once or twice a week.

To find calm in,

Let's face it,

What can be a crazy world.

If you do spend time with the news and the press,

You don't need reminding.

It's certainly crazy at the moment and sometimes,

And I'm speaking to myself here,

I don't even have to get out of here for it to be a crazy world.

I think you know what I mean.

So this is an invitation to find calm,

To remind ourselves that we don't just have to keep going.

We don't just have to keep running,

Working,

Thinking.

It's important to find balance and step back.

One of the great ways to do that is to look at mindfulness and meditation and whether this is your first time or whether you have a regular practice,

I encourage you just to have no expectations about how the next 20 minutes or so unfolds,

But just see it as time for you,

Me time,

Time to rest,

Whatever that ends up meaning.

Because balance truly is the key to all things in life.

Let me say that once more before we move into the practice together.

Balance is the key to all things in life.

So offset the other 23 hours and 40 minutes of your day with me and this lovely group and let's see how we are when we slow down and recognize the only thing that's real,

The only thing we can be certain of,

The moment that we're in.

In preparation,

I'm going to invite you to close your eyes and I'll be doing the same for the majority of our time together.

So with your eyes closed now,

Set a gentle intention to slow down.

You may be sitting static,

Even lying,

But are we really here at this moment?

You and I,

Can we slow down to the natural rhythm and pace of this moment?

To practice self-care together.

Let's begin with about 20 seconds or so in silence.

We live in a world that's full of noise,

You and I.

We often seem to think that louder is better,

To fill the space,

But this is about balance,

This practice.

So to begin with,

Let the anchor,

Your hook point,

Something to come back to just for now,

Be the silence that you're beginning to connect with.

If your mind drifts,

If thoughts come and go,

For me too,

It's natural,

But allow yourself to stay with or gently come back to the silence that is truly this moment.

You're doing great.

Allowing yourself to simply be,

To check out for a while and that's okay.

An interesting thing happens when we allow ourselves to become silent.

It's as if it gently turns the volume up on how we are,

You and I,

In this moment.

It might help us realize that actually our minds are racing,

Thoughts coming,

Going,

But we just allow ourselves to acknowledge that,

To notice it,

Nothing more.

Every thought is temporary,

It comes and it goes,

And we come back to the silence.

It might highlight that you're feeling a certain way at the moment,

Maybe that emotion was dampened in some way with stuff,

But in the silence we notice,

And this is a very safe space that you and I create for each other.

So any thoughts,

Any emotions,

Any sensations,

Perhaps simply want to be heard,

Felt,

Seen,

So they can pass through,

As everything is temporary and all is well.

So another 20 seconds or so in silence now,

Simply noticing and allowing.

Now with your eyes still closed,

I ask you to simply notice your breath,

To be with your breath,

And again have no expectations about how your breath should be.

We're just noticing things,

You and I,

Nothing more.

Notice the sensation of the in-breath as you take it in through the nostrils,

How it seems to pause just for a moment somewhere in the body,

And the exhale,

The letting go,

The journey out.

Just notice some part or all of your breath,

Just for a few breaths now,

And now the practice is to simply be with or come back to your breath.

So if the mind drifts,

Thoughts or outside influence come,

Simply notice one part or all of the flow of your breath,

Come back to it again and again as required.

And there are many reasons why the breath has been the pillar of well-being almost since time began,

A constant in taking care.

You see,

You and I can't re-breathe a breath,

It's gone.

We can't jump forward two or three breaths.

So each breath that you notice truly brings you back to now,

To this moment,

To reset.

Let's have 30 seconds in silence together,

And the practice now is to stay with or come back to your breath,

Nothing more,

That's the practice.

Just this simple practice of allowing yourself to notice the breath,

Regulates blood pressure,

The heart rate,

And gently eases the nervous system,

As you allow yourself to be here,

In this safe space now.

I'd like to introduce you now to a wonderful way to slow down even more using the breath,

A very simple but profound addition to the practice.

So between each in-breath and out-breath,

There is a pause,

A space.

Just notice that space,

So we're not holding our breath,

It happens naturally.

As you breathe in,

Just notice the pause,

The space before the exhale,

It's always there.

Now if it feels okay to do so,

Look to lengthen that pause slightly.

Look to create a little more space between the in-breath and the out-breath.

As if you're literally slowing down time to this moment.

In music they say it's the pause between the notes that truly makes the music.

Otherwise it's one continuous noise.

Perhaps you and I are spending time with the space between our notes,

Allowing ourselves to step back from the noise.

Let's now take a minute together in silence,

And the practice is to focus a little more on that space between the in-breath and the out-breath.

Before we continue with the practice,

I invite you just to check in.

How are you feeling in this moment?

Now that you've allowed yourself to slow down,

To connect with the silence,

To be with your breath,

All of this is available to you wherever you are,

Whatever you're going through.

A reminder that balance is the key to all things in life.

Let's not just keep going.

Let's leave the breath to do its own thing now,

Knowing it will be perfect.

And with your eyes closed,

I ask you now to notice the space that you are in.

So where you are right now.

So you may notice the temperature now that you've slowed down.

Nothing is right or wrong here,

It just is.

We're slowing down to meet the moment,

The truth of now.

Not looking to change it,

Or add words in any way,

Just to experience.

What do you sense in this space?

And I'd like to remind you that as you and I experience the softness,

The silence and the connection to this moment,

The world carries on around us.

The noise,

The pace,

The sometimes chaos is all happening right now.

Birds are singing.

Traffic is moving.

Finances are up and down.

You get the picture.

It's all happening right now.

It never stops.

But you and I can step back from that.

To notice the silence here now.

Balance is the key to all things in life.

Let's take a minute together in silence.

And so it is.

Thank you for taking care of yourself.

Thank you for stepping back to rest just for a while.

Thank you for meditating with me.

And when you're ready,

I invite you to open your eyes and come back to the space that you have chosen in this moment.

Thank you,

Everyone.

Take your time.

Just keep that mantra close to you.

You'd be amazed what an aid memoir it can be.

Balance is the key to all things in life.

Thank you,

Carmel and to Seeds.

Folks,

I'd like to just share something with you,

If I may,

If technology will allow.

Each Sunday,

Just one email a week.

I send out to my email list via my website.

And this one,

For some reason,

Seems to have really hit a mark with people.

I normally get replies back.

So I just thought I'd share it with you.

This is a very simple email that I send each Sunday.

And this week's email was called Calmly Observe.

It's a thought for the week.

So it's always a quote,

A thought,

And then just a few lines to sort of support or strengthen the message.

So Calmly Observe.

If you calmly observe,

You will more clearly see situations for what they really are.

So often,

We can be drawn into the drama of a situation.

Triggered into reacting as we always have.

And so the cycle continues.

It's always been like this.

I've always been like that.

So and so it is.

And to my database,

I said,

This week,

I invite you to look at people or issues through a softer,

Wider lens.

Break the cycle and become the change that is required.

So I just thought I would share that with you.

To calmly observe.

To look at situations,

People,

Trigger points through a softer,

Wider lens.

To move back.

To take away the intensity of the situation.

Do you see what I did there?

These lives come with special effects among casters.

I didn't float.

To look at everything through a softer,

Wider lens.

To realise the temporary nature of everything.

I'm coming back in.

To take care of yourself.

Thank you,

Maisie.

Thank you,

Nancy.

To Dorata,

Thank you.

Bless you,

Kirsten.

That's very kind.

Calmly observing,

Maisie.

And so it is.

Absolutely.

Let me just check I haven't missed anybody a little further up.

Kath and to Heather.

Bless you.

Thank you all.
