Chakra Balancing
In this fully-reclined practice, you take the role of your own healer while I guide you onto a journey through the Pranic (subtle) body. Using mindfulness, affirmation, and visualization, we connect to each of the main seven Chakras - energetic centers governing our physiological and emotional functions. Our intention is to invite more harmony across all of our being, gently balancing, nurturing, and empowering from the inside out.
Transcript
Hi and welcome to your practice.
In this session I will offer you a practice known as chakra balancing,
Something that I love to share during my retreats and offerings,
A space for you to take the role of your own healer,
The space of you honoring and tending to the needs of your subtle body.
So take a moment and find a comfortable space in your house,
In your room where you can lay down,
Placing a little soft layer underneath your body or using your bed.
If you have access to a blanket or to pillows you may wish to gently bend your knees and have a layer underneath the lower legs.
If you have a pillow or an ice scarf you could just very gently place it over your eyelids.
Palms softly opened up towards the sky,
Towards the ceiling in a gesture of receiving.
With your eyes closed sense for a moment the left side of your body.
In the yogic philosophies and practices of energy medicine we say that this is ida,
The feminine side,
The side of quietness,
Introspection,
Intuition,
The more watery depths of our being.
With the next breath notice the right side of your body,
What we call pingala,
Your masculine side,
The sun,
The activity,
The directedness,
External expression.
Between the left and right side of your body sense the direct passage of a channel that starts at the very root,
At the very base of your spine and travels up the entire spinal column until it reaches the crown of the head,
Your shushumna.
We recognize these three main energy channels,
Passageways of prana and at their intersection with the left and right side calling up like a snake.
Each time they cross shushumna there is an energetic center known as chakra.
Each chakra corresponds to color,
To sound.
Each chakra is responsible for our body's health,
For physiological,
Emotional functions.
So as we dive into this practice set a simple intention of wanting to bring more harmony to your chakras,
To your energetic body and allow your eyes to comfortably close.
Start to come down into your breath,
Come down into your body relaxing your belly and softening your mind.
Notice the support of the earth right now underneath you and let her take your weight.
Become aware of the sounds around you,
Notice what other sounds than my voice you can perceive and just let them be there.
Notice the light and shade behind your closed eyes,
The air touching your skin.
Sense the horizons stretching all around your body,
The sky above and again the earth holding you,
Supporting you,
Giving you permission to dive even deeper into you,
Offering a safe space.
So with the next breath in fill up,
Fill up,
Fill up and then exhaling out allow your mind to empty out of what it no longer needs to hold on to.
Gently letting it go with your out breath and then breathing in fill up again and allow your body to release what it no longer needs to hold on to.
Letting it out as you breathe out.
Begin to draw your energies back home from your day calling them back home to your center.
So take a moment to say to yourself internally or out loud I am calling my energies home,
I am coming home to myself and ground yourself in this moment here and now.
And now begin to breathe down to where the weight of your body rests at the very base of your spine,
To your root,
To your Muladhara chakra.
This is the center of belonging,
Grounding,
Security and the key themes here are survival,
Fight or flight,
Trust,
Material safety,
Knowing that we belong and have the right to be here.
This is the place that connects to the element of earth and the frequency of a red color.
So let yourself breathe into your root,
Let it soften,
Let it expand on your breath.
Allow it to connect down and deep into the earth,
Your own root extending into the heart of the earth and start to invite in bright red color,
Bathing your root with this embodying,
Grounding fiery energy of red,
Empowering you,
Anchoring you in the here and now.
Let your root take what it needs and silently remind yourself I am here,
I have the right to be here.
The earth supports me.
And when you are ready allow your awareness to move up to your lower belly and if you wish you can place your palms just below your navel,
For women on the womb,
For men a couple of fingers underneath your navel point.
This is Swadhisthana,
The center of emotional intelligence,
Of creative expression,
Of sexuality.
This is the house that governs our honesty and compassion.
Breathe into it.
Let it soften,
Let it expand on your breath,
Taking in nourishment,
Taking life first energy into your sacral chakra.
Starting to invite warm orange color and you can do this as a point where your hands are resting or as a wave of color coming all over you.
Bathing your sacral chakra with this balancing,
Empowering,
Motivating orange glow,
Letting it take what it needs and silently or out loud reminding yourself I honor my needs,
I allow myself to be nourished.
And when you are ready move your awareness and maybe your hands to your solar plexus,
To your Manipura chakra,
To that soft area just below your breastbone,
Your center of personal power,
Of self esteem,
Choice,
Will.
This is the house that governs self trust and acceptance,
Confidence and growth.
This is the home of our Agni,
Our inner fire.
So breathe into here,
Allowing your solar plexus to soften,
To expand on your breath.
This is the place of the power that knows how powerful it is and therefore it doesn't feel that it needs to prove anything to anyone,
It just knows.
This quiet understanding of who we are and what we are here to share on this earth.
Let your solar plexus soften and expand on your breath.
Begin to connect with a bright yellow color and bathe your Manipura with this sunshine like energy,
Replenishing,
Nurturing,
Letting yourself be fed.
And as you feel your breath dancing in the solar plexus just reminding yourself I am enough,
I am complete.
I stand in my power.
When you feel ready,
Start to shift to the center of your heart space,
To Anahata,
The place of love and openness,
Forgiveness and inner peace.
Gently breathe into your heart.
Let it soften and expand on your breath.
Let the front and the back of your heart respond,
That place at the front that we call the giving heart,
But also the space in between your shoulder blades,
The area where we allow ourselves to receive love,
To let love in.
Feel the front and the back respond.
Feel the softening of the heart space with every breath.
How much do you give love?
How much do you let yourself receive from others?
Start to invite green color,
That rich,
Deep greenness of nature,
Healing,
Renewing,
Nourishing,
Thriving,
Let your heart take what it needs as you remind yourself I am loved.
I allow myself to give and receive love freely.
I am nourished by the power of love.
And in your own time arrive at the throat.
You can bring your palms up here,
Perhaps hugging the elbows so that your arms don't feel tension.
You can also simply rest your awareness at your Vishuddha,
The chakra of communication,
Self-expression,
The place from which we share our personal truth,
The link between the emotions of the heart and the reasoning of the mind,
The bridge between the inner world and the outer world.
The key themes here are listening,
Understanding,
Honoring our truth,
Being impeccable with our words.
Allow your throat to soften and to expand on your breath.
The space element governs the throat chakra,
So breathe space right into here.
Feeling the clearing,
The opening,
The softening of your throat,
Softening the need for control too,
Freeing your self-expression.
Maybe giving yourself a permission to truly,
Authentically voice who you are and what you need.
Let your throat take whatever it needs for more harmony and balance.
Feel a really bright blue color swirling in the space of your throat,
That vastness,
Expansiveness of the sky as you take a deeper breath in,
Emptying out.
Connecting to your throat,
Silently or out loud,
Remind yourself,
I hear my truth,
I speak my truth,
I express myself freely,
I allow myself to go with the flow of life.
When you feel ready,
Start to shift your focus up to the space between your eyebrows,
To your third eye center,
To your Ajna chakra.
This is our connection with the spiritual world.
This is the place of wisdom,
Intuition,
Perception,
Imagination.
This is the place in which the metaphysical phenomena become available to us,
Once all of the lower chakras are clear and balanced and activated.
This is the space that connects us to the innermost wisdom,
The one beyond the cognitive functions of the mind.
That quiet,
Powerful knowing that guides and shares impressions and visions brings forth memories.
Start to invite deep dark indigo color of a velvety dark night sky,
Soothing and balancing,
Bringing deeper understanding,
Helping you to see more clearly with the eye that truly sees.
With your third eye take what it needs,
As you remind yourself,
Everything is unfolding exactly as it should.
And finally arriving at your crown,
At the very top of your head,
Your Sahasrara,
The crown chakra,
The spiritual center,
The chakra of oneness,
Cosmic awareness,
The place of higher consciousness.
In the yogic philosophy we would say that this is the chakra that connects us to all of our future lives.
This is the place of connectedness to the divine,
Of remembering our true nature,
Of the individual self merging with the universal one.
So feel your crown,
Whether with your palms or with your attentiveness,
And let yourself open up to this place beyond time and space,
To that sweet spot of remembering,
As you gently invite in purple,
A bright purple flame that bathes your crown with a balancing,
Restoring,
Nourishing glow.
Let your crown take what it needs as you say to yourself,
I am one with the universe,
I am one with the whole of life.
And relax your hands back anywhere onto your body where they want to land and take a big breath in.
As you ride the exhale out of the body,
Start to come back to yourself as a whole,
To the rhythm of each in-breath and out-breath,
Back to your center.
Drawing a powerful inhale right into the center of you,
Right into your core,
Gently remind yourself,
I am whole,
I am alive,
I am awake,
I am perfect,
Exactly as I am.
Allowing the energy of these words to soothe your emotions,
Your mind,
Your body,
Take from them what you need.
Become aware of the air against the surface of your skin,
The sounds,
Earth beneath your body.
Notice how you feel and hold yourself here with a lot of loving kindness,
A lot of gentleness,
Bowing to everything that you have been through,
Honoring who you are today,
Your wisdom,
Your beauty,
Your magic,
Your humor.
Allowing for there to be enough space inside of you to hold all of the human experience with the joys and pains and moment of confusion,
Remembering that you are your own healer.
And at any moment of any day you can choose to go inwards,
Connect to your energetic body and use your attention and your breath to bring a greater harmony to it.
Grab your hands together until they are nice and warm,
Gently cupping them over your closed eyes.
And as you slowly remove your palms away from your face,
Blink your eyes open,
Anchoring the gaze at the hearts of your palms,
Bring a smile to your face,
A simple gesture of welcoming you right here in this space,
Just as you are.
Take a big breath in and an exhale out through the mouth.
Thank you for sharing your practice with me.
Namaste.
