I recently came across the notion of happiness triggers.
I love this concept.
I usually think of triggers from a negative perspective.
In other words,
The experience of having an emotional reaction to some type of disturbing content.
But in this instance,
It is still an emotional reaction,
But it is a positive one.
There can be two types of triggers,
External,
Which are anything that happens in the environment,
And internal triggers are what we tell ourselves about the external triggers.
Consider what are your happiness triggers.
Maybe it's a warm cup of coffee or tea,
Favorite song,
Moving your body like yoga or going for a walk.
Maybe it's an act of kindness,
The sunshine,
Or being outside.
Maybe it's a specific smell,
Clean sheets,
A favorite meal,
A hug.
Let us explore happiness triggers in the meditation today.
I will now take you through a guided meditation.
At the end of the meditation,
You'll hear a soft bell.
It is important to come out of the meditation slowly and to take your time.
There's no rush.
I will be here guiding you through the entire process.
The theme of this meditation is happiness triggers.
Honoring your happiness in mind,
Body,
And spirit.
Happiness is about engaging your attention in the present moment on what you are experiencing without judgment.
Let us center our attention and bring awareness to the present moment.
Let us begin this meditation with mindful curiosity as you become mindful of your body,
Mindful of your environment,
And as you maintain a gentle present moment focus.
Start by finding a comfortable position and let us settle into our breath.
Placing your feet flat on the ground with your hands resting comfortably in your lap.
Or if you're seated on a cushion,
Find a comfortable position with your hands resting comfortably in your lap.
Using your eyes if you prefer and become present and relaxed in this moment.
Observe the sensations of the body and notice what you are thinking.
As you become more relaxed,
Notice the chatter of your mind starting to quiet.
When your mind wanders,
Come back to your breath in this present moment.
Being mindful of anything getting in the way and let it go on the next exhale breath.
Simply release any tension you notice.
Remembering it's okay to have thoughts and when a thought occurs simply notice the thought without judgment and then let it go on the next exhale breath.
Allowing each area of your body to settle into the breath.
Exploring the sensations in your body mindfully and without judgment.
Notice if you're feeling any aches or pains in a specific area,
Any numbness or tingling sensations breathing into the sensation and letting it go on the exhale breath.
Then breathing into the aches or pains sensations and letting it go as you exhale.
Mindfully engaging your attention in the present moment and what you're experiencing without judgment.
For this meditation let us welcome everything and simply let go of any expectations.
At any point during this meditation if your mind starts to wander,
Simply come back to your breath as an anchor of focus.
Remembering to be kind to yourself.
Notice where you feel happiness in your body.
Observe the sensation of happiness,
Gratitude and love.
Be present with this sensation.
Ask yourself silently what are your happiness triggers.
Do not look for an answer but instead be still with the sensation.
We'll take the next few moments in silence giving you the opportunity to continue to focus your breath as you mindfully maintain a gentle present moment awareness.
I will keep track of the time as you take these moments in silence together.
Notice where you feel happiness in your body.
Honor this sensation.
You you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you keeping your eyes closed as we integrate back from the meditation.
Take as much time as you need to come out of the meditation slowly and mindfully.
Start by wiggling your toes or fingers or any part of your body that feels right for you.
And when you're ready you can open your eyes.
Thank you for joining me in this meditation and I hope you enjoyed the experience.
May we honor the happiness,
Light,
Love,
Truth,
Beauty,
And peace in all of us.
Namaste.
