Come down to your hero's pose.
Find your hero's pose.
Sitting on your heels,
Crossing your legs,
Maybe cross an opposite leg from what you usually do.
Try to find that quiet moment where you can close your eyes.
Take the motion out of the yoga.
Let the only motion be the motion of your breath moving in and out,
Your lungs expanding and contracting.
Even when there's nothing going on,
There's never really nothing going on.
Your heart is beating,
Your blood is flowing,
And you are moving towards stillness.
Inhale a smile onto your face and sit here in the stillness of this moment.
So there were tornado warnings in this area before I started teaching today.
And that was a big challenge for me in terms of staying calm and staying still and finding my breath.
And now that that warning has passed and the sunlight is coming back in and the darkness has moved away,
The rain has stopped.
It gives me pause to think and review the thoughts and feelings I was having while all of this tornadic activity was happening in other nearby towns,
Luckily not here.
And I think it's a perfect metaphor for what the yoga can do for us in moments that are stressful.
It doesn't have to be a tornado.
It can be something much simpler than that.
But how can that intentional breath help you through moments of stress?
You find that deep inhale,
You just let go of anything that is making you crazy,
That is making you feel tight.
Just let it go.
So relaxing,
Just letting the air moving in and letting it move out.
Let the tornado happen around you.
Let the dust settle.
Let the particles in your glass of water,
That is your mind,
Just let it settle.
And your mind will be clear and you will find more peace.
Tornado of life.
Let's find a way to breathe through it.
It's always a nice way to remember in Hero's Pose,
To remember some of these moments of these special thoughts.
Hero's Pose.
