Bell Practice of arriving into our present moment environment.
So we could just begin by allowing the mind to become still.
So just as we've taken up our posture of rest in the body,
Seeing if we can allow the mind just to slow down,
Know where we have to be right now,
Nothing we have to do,
No one we have to respond to.
So the mind can really rest.
And we're going to begin by retrieving our mind from its habits of running into the future,
Of going over the things that have happened in the past,
And seeing if we can really bring our mind here,
Into the place we are in,
In this moment.
I'm here and I really know that I'm here.
So we could move our attention into the ears,
Seeing if we can really lean into the environment of sound.
This might be the first silence of the day,
Maybe it's the only silence of the day.
Really paying attention,
What does silence sound like?
We might notice the texture of sounds within that silence.
So seeing if we can just allow the mind to be receptive,
Sounds emerge,
They remain awhile,
And they pass away.
See if you can allow the whole mind to listen,
Really listening in to just being here.
We're pushing the awareness of sound away,
So we'll continue to be sensitive to the changing environment of sound.
We could move our attention or focus into the eyes.
Even if we have our eyes closed,
We have a sense of the quality of light in the room.
Just sensing into how that quality of light is experienced in the muscles of the eyes.
For a few moments,
All the mind has to do is rest into the experience of sound and the experience of light.
We might move the focus of attention again,
So coming into tactile sensation.
Maybe just seeing if you can notice how you're experiencing the temperature of the air.
And just feeling how the temperature of the air is making contact with the surface of the skin.
See if you can notice what does coolness feel like,
Where in the body is coolness felt.
And then by contrast,
We might begin to notice,
Where am I experiencing heat in the body?
Maybe sensing into the roof of the mouth,
Into the palms of the hands.
And really noticing what do the sensations of heat feel like?
And there are all the other tactile sensations that the body is receiving.
So you might notice the quality of the texture of your own clothing against your skin.
And the feeling of contact between the body and the floor.
See if you can just sense into how the body feels and the posture that you're in.
How does it feel in the muscles to be sitting down,
To be lying down?
So we're here in this moment and we really know that we're here.
With these sounds,
With this quality of light,
With these sensations in the body.
This is our present moment experience and our mind is alive to this experience.
So for our last couple of minutes,
To see if you can allow your mind to really be here.
I'm in this place.
These sensations in the body.
Nowhere else I need to be.
And nothing else the mind needs to do.
Just enjoy being here.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
