Hello there.

The fact that you came to this meditation likely means that you're feeling some anxiousness with regard to an upcoming surgery or medical procedure.

It is my sincere hope that this meditation will help you deal with those anxious thoughts.

This meditation is designed specifically to help you cultivate some calm before your upcoming procedure.

So let's begin by finding a comfortable position,

Either seated or lying down.

See if you can allow yourself to be undisturbed for the next several minutes.

Relax your jaw.

Relax your shoulders.

If it is comfortable for you,

Close your eyes.

If your eyes remain open,

Try to maintain a soft downward gaze.

Bring your attention to your breath.

Notice the gentle rhythm of your inhales and your exhales.

Two places to focus on while breathing are our nostrils,

Feeling the air coming in and going out,

Or in our torso,

Feeling our belly or chest rise and fall.

There's no need to change anything about your breath.

Simply observe your breath just as it is.

Breathing normally,

Breathing naturally,

Your breath just as it is.

All of your awareness on your breath,

Cultivating total awareness of your inhalations and your exhalations,

Breathing in and breathing out.

As you continue to focus on your breath,

With each inhale,

Invite encouragement and calm.

With each exhale,

Release fear,

Release uncertainty,

Release everything that will no longer serve you.

With every breath,

You are creating more space for ease and trust,

Drawing in a sense of confidence and clarity.

And with every exhale,

Let go of worry,

Let go of concern,

Let go of resistance.

Notice how your body is responding,

Notice how relaxation is increasing as each breath carries peace throughout your body and a gentle wave of calm flows through your chest and your arms and your legs.

You are safe.

You are being cared for.

Your medical team is capable.

Your body is wise.

Continuing to utilize your breath as your anchor,

Imagine yourself surrounded by a soft healing light.

This light can be warm or cool,

Whichever feels better for you.

And with each inhale,

This light fills your body with strength and resilience.

With each exhale,

It carries away tension,

Anxiety,

And fear.

See the light gently surrounding the area of your body that is receiving the care.

Imagine that area becoming relaxed and ready to receive healing.

Your body knows how to restore balance,

And your breath is reminding you how to do so.

As you continue your normal and natural breathing pattern,

Bring to mind the people who support you,

Your loved ones,

Your care team,

The people in your inner circle.

Feel their care surrounding you like a blanket of safety and love.

And if your mind wanders,

Simply return your attention to your breath.

With each inhale,

Bring steadiness.

With each exhale,

Release fear.

You are safe.

You are ready.

Any thoughts that once created fear are beginning to fade into the distance.

Your body is releasing more tension.

And with each inhale,

It welcomes calm and trust.

You are preparing your mind and your body for healing.

You are aligning with your body's natural ability to recover and restore.

Let's together take one final deep breath in,

Filling your lungs completely.

Hold for just a moment.

And exhale slowly,

Releasing all remaining tension.

Feel a sense of gratitude for this moment of peace.

Gratitude for your body.

Gratitude for your body's resilience.

Gratitude for the care you are about to receive.

You are ready.

You are grounded.

And now,

Whenever you are ready,

Let's gently reopen those eyes and carry this sense of calm with you into this procedure.

You have done the work to prepare yourself,

Mind,

Body,

And spirit.

Thank you for taking this time to breathe and to trust in your healing.

I wish you good health and a positive outcome.

Namaste.
