Transcript
Welcome to this yoga nidra practice.
As you settle in,
Allow yourself to shift gently from the outer world and then return to yourself.
You could place a pillow under your head,
A pillow or bolster under your legs to ease your lower back.
You might like to place a blanket over yourself.
Lay your body on the surface upon which you will be resting,
With your eyes closed or gently lowered.
Move and shift your body in whichever way you need to feel the most safe,
Protected and comfortable today.
I invite you to follow my voice and to stay awake during this practice.
If however,
You feel the need to not follow my voice,
You're invited to follow your breath until you are able to return to my voice.
If you have a touchstone,
Hold it in your left hand.
Feel what that touchstone means to you.
And then for this yoga nidra,
I suggest you place it in your pelvic bowl,
A space between your navel and pelvic floor.
Or if you prefer,
You can place it anywhere else on or off the body.
Begin by noticing everything you're aware of at this moment.
Notice all sounds,
Both in the room and further away.
The sound of your breath.
Notice the temperature of the room where you're resting.
Maybe the touch of fabric against your skin.
Become aware of the contact between your body and the surface you're resting on,
Back of your head,
Your shoulders,
Your hands.
You're increasing and expanding out beyond your fullness.
You're elders frombecause of you.
Back of your head,
Your shoulders,
Your hands,
Your buttocks,
Backs of your legs and heels.
Now take a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in through the nose,
Pause,
And exhale from your mouth,
Making any sound you need to,
Sensing your muscles soften.
Repeat this a couple more times.
Deep breath in through the nose,
Filling your belly and your chest with air,
Pause,
And exhale,
Releasing from the mouth.
Feel yourself resting into the lap of Mother Earth,
Letting go.
Let her hold you.
Be still while you listen to these words by Lucy Pierce.
Where do we go when we don't know where to go?
How do we get to where we do not know?
Welcome.
I see you there,
Standing on the threshold.
Step further into the darkness,
Into your own darkness.
Follow the sound of my voice.
You cannot see me.
You have no need for your outer eyes and ears here.
Here you are,
Alone but not alone.
I am here for you,
Holding space,
Waiting with you.
This is the space between dreaming and becoming.
The liminal space,
The held breath.
For perhaps the first time in your life,
You are standing in a space which is not defined in any way by the masculine.
This is no man's land.
The threshold where time and space coalesce in a different way,
And we re-emerge in a new identity.
Here we come to reclaim our words,
Our images,
Our spirits,
Our souls.
Here is where we meet our feminine power.
Rest here.
Allow the shadow space to embrace you in your wholeness.
Here you lie in the womb of infinite possibilities.
Here you can let go of your projections,
Your personas,
Your stories.
Lay them down and allow yourself to rest.
Know yourself without limits.
Get intimate with your essence.
This is the place of creativity,
The passing place of life and death,
Where existence flits in and out between pure consciousness and the material realm.
Settle in.
Make yourself at home.
Time does not apply here,
Only truth.
You cannot hurry this place.
It is the resting space of eternity.
This is the space you must inhabit to hear the call,
The whisper of your soul,
The shouts of she.
This is the space which always holds the sacred invitation to healing,
Becoming.
This is where your invitation to dance in the flames can always be found.
This is the place you will return to time and again.
Are you willing to wait in the space between stories?
To sink into the warm depths of yourself and listen without agenda?
Behind the fear,
The planning,
Cleverness and noise,
Behind it all,
The invitation is waiting for you.
The call is sounding.
Can you hear it?
Are you listening?
Can you feel it?
Are you here?
It's time to call in your intention.
Be sure your intention is stated in the present tense and resonates with your true intuitive self.
Repeat your intention three times with your full attention,
Feeling it spread throughout your whole body.
Now bring your attention to the space between your eyebrows.
Rest here.
It's time to take a journey through the body.
When you hear a body part named,
Bring as much presence as possible to that body part.
You could imagine placing a star at each point mentioned,
Star that ignites with energy when placed on the body.
We begin by placing a star at the space between the eyebrows,
Middle of the throat,
Right shoulder joint,
Right elbow joint,
The bend of the right wrist,
Tip of the right thumb,
Tip of the right index finger,
Tip of the right middle finger,
Tip of the right fourth finger,
Tip of the right small finger,
Bend of the wrist joint,
Right elbow joint,
Right shoulder joint.
Return to the star at the hollow of the throat,
Left shoulder joint,
Left elbow joint,
Bend of the left wrist joint,
Tip of the left thumb,
Tip of the left index finger,
Tip of the left middle finger,
Tip of the left fourth finger,
Tip of the left small finger,
Bend of the left wrist joint,
Left elbow joint,
Left shoulder joint,
Middle of the throat,
Heart center,
Right side of the chest,
Heart center,
Left side of the chest,
Heart center,
Navel point,
Middle of the pubic bone,
Right hip joint,
Right knee joint,
Right ankle joint,
Tip of the right big toe,
Tip of the right second toe,
Tip of the right third toe,
Tip of the right fourth toe,
Tip of the right small toe,
Right ankle joint,
Right knee joint,
Right hip joint,
Middle of the pubic bone,
Left hip joint,
Left knee joint,
Left ankle joint,
Tip of the left big toe,
Tip of the left second toe,
Tip of the left third toe,
Tip of the left fourth toe,
Tip of the left small toe,
Left ankle joint,
Left knee joint,
Left hip joint,
Middle of the pubic bone,
Navel point,
Heart center,
Middle of the throat,
Back to the star,
The space between the eyebrows.
Become aware of your whole body,
Sensing the light from the stars you have placed at each point on the journey through the body,
Each star burning brightly on its own and together making a unique constellation that you have just created,
Your whole body bathed in starlight.
Notice all sensations.
Now begin to notice the body breathing naturally,
The in and out breaths,
Gentle movement of the belly rising and then releasing as you exhale,
The body being breathed.
Begin to count your breath backwards from 11 to 1 like this.
Breathing in 11,
Breathing out 11,
Breathing in 10,
Breathing out 10.
Continue breathing,
Counting backwards from 11 to 1.
If you lose count,
Return to 11 or any number that feels right for you and count down from there.
When you reach one,
Stop counting and breathe normally.
Tension moves back to the space between the eyebrows.
Rest here.
We'll move into exploring pairs of opposites.
What I name,
You'll allow yourself to feel.
Perhaps a memory of it or an imaginary experience.
Allow yourself to observe what comes up in relation to what is named.
There may be sensations,
Emotions,
Symbols,
A story.
You're invited to remain still as the witness through it all.
Imagine or recall darkness.
Fill your body and your mind with darkness.
Pitch black,
Shadow,
Womb space.
Feel the dark.
Breathe into the darkness.
And now,
Let go of the dark.
Travel across the spectrum and fill your body with light.
Bright,
White light.
Light cascading into and all around you,
Showering you with luminescent light.
Sense the emotions,
Imagery or any sensations this feeling of light brings with it.
Light.
Now bring back the feeling of darkness and hold this at the same time as the feeling of light.
Dark and light.
Side by side.
Companions.
Sense how this feels in your whole body.
Letting go,
Bring your attention to the space behind your eyelids,
The area of neutrality,
And let your mind drift off,
Dropping deeper and deeper into stillness.
I'll name something,
An object or an event,
And you'll visualize it using the back of your eyelids as a big screen with images projected onto it.
A bird's eye,
A bird's mouth,
A crow,
A white rosebud,
A full moon in the night sky,
A full moon in the night sky,
A snow-covered mountaintop,
A yin-yang symbol,
The dancing of a candle's flame reflecting off a window pane.
Now clear the mind and rest.
Rest even deeper at the space between the eyes,
Rest in the sacred invitation of healing and becoming.
Completely let go into the deepest peace.
In the space of deep rest,
Pull back your intention and repeat it three times like a vow to yourself.
Repeat it three times like a vow to yourself.
Sense your intention flowing throughout your whole body.
Feel it in your veins.
It's time to welcome your divine feminine.
Slowly,
If it feels right,
Sense or imagine the light from the star that you placed at the space between your eyebrows,
Noticing the twinkling star.
And in the light,
Begin to sense or imagine your divine feminine appearing.
Your divine feminine may be guides,
Mentors,
Angels and sisters.
There may be animal spirits.
Feel their presence in your whole body.
Notice how they honor the true you.
When ready,
Ask for a message from your divine feminine,
A soul whisper.
See what comes.
Whatever soul whisper you receive,
Take a moment to notice how you feel.
If you haven't received a soul whisper,
Trust that it will come when the time is right.
Give thanks to your divine feminine for their presence,
Their message and say goodbye.
If you're off to sleep,
Sweet dreams,
Drift deeper and deeper to sleep.
If you're waking up,
Bring your attention to the air in your nose as you breathe.
Slowly begin to move your body.
Fingers,
Toes.
Stretching out to the edges of your toes,
Waking up in your own way.
Notice how the body is quiet.
Mind is calm.
Heart open.
Your journey inward allows you to live your best life outward.
This completes your Ginnidra.
