For this meditation,
We're going to be invoking the Divine Mother in the form of Kalima.
We'll begin like any meditation where you just make your body very comfortable and close your eyes when you're ready.
Notice in your body if there's any tension that you need to let go of,
That you need to breathe into.
As your body relaxes,
You bring your attention inward and consider for a moment images that you may have seen of Kalima,
The Hindu goddess with dark skin and skulls around her neck,
Tongue out of her mouth.
For this invocation,
We're going to be connecting to an inner energy of Kalima.
So you can take that image just to have something to begin with,
Something to offer humility and respect toward her as we go into this practice.
So you can imagine standing before her or an image of her,
Offering a bow or folding your hands together,
Maybe offering her a flower,
Some gesture of respect,
But then you can let that dissolve because the focus for this meditation is going to be the dark energy that is right here,
The energy of darkness that we look upon when we close our eyes.
If it's very bright where you are,
Even with your eyes closed,
There might be light coming through your eyelids.
Sometimes you could do this meditation with a blindfold or in a dark place.
But even in normal lighting,
If we close our eyes,
We're in the dark.
Take a moment to recognize this darkness as the object of this meditation and kind of relax into it.
It's not just there in your eyes.
If you're sensitive,
You can feel that it's a field of darkness.
So this meditation,
We're going to approach this darkness as Kalima,
As the womb of the Divine Mother.
So make your body very sensitive,
Very relaxed.
Use your breath to let your mind also soften,
Soften the space between your eyebrows.
All life begins in the dark.
The sperm finds the egg in the darkness of the womb.
The seed sprouts and begins to create roots in the darkness underground,
Dark,
Wet,
Warm,
Pure potential.
Recognize this velvety darkness,
This enveloping blackness that you're sitting in right now as her,
As that pure,
Sacred,
Divine womb of everything.
It's not an absence.
This darkness is not an absence of light.
It's not an absence of content.
It's not just void.
It is pure potential.
Sometimes she's depicted in a fearsome manner.
With this meditation on Kalima,
We're meditating on the tremendous safety,
The tremendous embrace,
The total encompassing love of this darkness.
The depictions with her tongue outstretched and weapons in her hand and wild demeanor are depictions of her totality,
Of her intensity,
Of her absolute power,
Her absolute being,
Her absolute pure creative potential.
It's right here.
Can you feel the energy?
Can you let yourself go deeper into the darkness?
Can you let yourself dissolve into this pure energy of creation?
Kalima.
Stay in touch with your own body.
Feel what happens in your own inner being as you relax into this inner being.
Feel what happens in your own womb,
Whether you're male or female bodied or in some other body,
We all have a womb,
That inner place.
What's happening in yours as you dissolve into hers?
In this,
Everything is her child,
Everything,
You,
Everything that you know,
Everyone that you know,
Everything that you can imagine is your sibling.
You have the same mother,
The same absolutely outrageous mother.
Great healing takes place within this womb.
You can whisper your deepest prayers into this darkness.
You can let this enveloping blackness take away everything in you that isn't free,
Everything in you that is bound or wounded,
Beat up in this world,
In this life.
Let this womb draw it out of you.
And you can be any way in here.
You can be reverent and holy,
Yogic and respectful.
It feels good to be those ways in here.
But if you are rebellious,
If you want to act like a brat,
If you want to be angry,
If you want to be resentful,
If you want to scream,
If you want to shout and kick,
Everything is welcome.
This mother loves every child equally,
Perfectly.
Every one of your mistakes,
Everything you hate about yourself,
Everything you hate about this life,
Everyone,
Everything is welcome.
You cannot be kicked out.
You cannot be rejected.
This womb,
This heart,
This enveloping love,
This velvety blackness holds all.
Let it hold you,
Let it squeeze you,
Let it lift you,
Let it feed you.
If you need a mantra,
If you need an expression,
You can just think Ma.
If you need to express yourself,
If you need to say something,
You can just say Ma,
Cry Ma.
Go deeper now.
Leave nothing out.
If you find yourself outside,
Going elsewhere,
Just turn back into the womb,
Back into Kali Ma,
Back into this love,
This love supreme.
In your life,
You carry so much,
You feel so important.
In here,
You get to be just a cell among millions,
Precious,
Beloved,
Perfectly cared for,
But you don't have to carry anything.
You are so beloved in this womb.
You don't have to show up in any way,
You don't have to prove anything.
You can meditate your way into here,
You can pray your way into here,
You can yoga your way into here,
But you can also fail your way into here.
You can also collapse your way into here.
You can dissolve and run into here like water,
Like spilled blood.
You have nothing to prove and she needs nothing from you.
Take as long as you like to be in this womb.
This meditation,
The instructions here,
Are going to go on for just a couple of more minutes.
So soak it up.
Lay it down.
Receive this medicine.
Aum.
Aum.
Cream.
Kali Kaliye Namaha.
Last moments in this space.
Offer your respect in the simplest way.
If you need to finish now,
Take some deep breath and really feel your whole body.
Maybe you imagine pulling out of this darkness,
Out of the womb space.
The truth is we never leave.
The truth is we're always there.
But for this practice,
As you enter back into the flow of your life,
Imagine coming out of the womb,
Born again.
When you're ready,
You can let your eyes come open.
The darkness gives way to the forms reflecting light all around you.
Thank you for joining me in this meditation.
