Welcome to the middle of the night.
If you're listening to this,
It means that for some reason you're awake and you want to be asleep.
Let me start off by saying you're going to be okay.
This practice is one that you can do in this moment.
You may go back to sleep in the midst of the practice.
If that's the case,
That's great.
I won't say goodbye or give any end of the practice instructions.
The instructions will just finish at some point.
So let's start by just making sure that your body is relaxed.
You can be lying down or you may choose to sit up.
The first thing to do is just take a moment and accept where you are.
You want to be asleep and you're not.
It's okay.
You're going to be okay.
With your eyes closed,
Just feel your breath coming in and out.
Feel your body,
The position of your body.
Feel the condition of your body,
Like if you feel tired or you feel energized,
You feel wired.
Whatever is the case,
Just say yes to it.
Yes,
I'm awake.
Yes.
I can't sleep.
If you can't say yes,
Then just say okay.
Feel your body however it is right now.
And just say,
Okay body.
Feel your body however it is right now and just notice how you may be fighting,
How you may have an energy of struggle in your body.
Just breathe and relax and see if you can let go of that struggle and embrace this moment.
Just breathe in this moment.
You're alive in this moment.
Let your head be heavy wherever it is.
Let your face get really soft like a child's face.
Relax that space between your eyebrows.
Breathe into your shoulders and exhale the energy out through your hands.
Breathe into your chest and exhale that energy down into your belly.
Feel your body held and supported by whatever is holding it in this moment.
Your hips,
Your legs,
Your whole body will let go of any struggle.
This is where we are.
As you relax,
See if you can bring your attention right into the middle of you,
Right into the center of your center.
And see if you can relax there.
Nothing to struggle.
Nothing to grip.
You're doing great.
If you've been sitting up until now,
You can lie down.
If you're already lying down,
You can shift more into a sleeping position.
Just keep listening to the instructions.
Keep letting go any struggle,
Any gripping.
You have so much to be grateful for.
Let yourself,
Breath by breath,
Remember all of the blessings in your life.
All of the sweet things,
Everything that you're grateful for,
So much.
