Transcript

Begin this meditation by making your body very comfortable.

Let your body relax into the seat where you're sitting.

If you're lying down,

Let your body release into the surface that supports your body.

As your body relaxes,

Start to take some deeper breaths in and out through your nose.

Really fill yourself with your inhalation and really empty yourself when you exhale.

Do a number of these long in-breaths and complete out-breaths.

You'll notice as you go,

You'll be able to take in more and more breath each time.

You'll be able to squeeze out more and more breath each time.

Do three more of these,

Filling yourself when you breathe in and squeezing yourself,

Emptying yourself when you breathe out.

When you're finished,

Keep feeling your breath,

Keep enjoying your breath,

But just let your breath move however it wants to.

Enjoy the breath.

Savor the energy of it.

This rhythm,

This pulsation of breathing is something that has been with you your whole life.

It's a gift.

As you feel your breath moving,

Consider your life.

Consider your existence,

However old you are,

However long you've been in this life.

From the time you were born,

When you were little,

Growing up,

The whole time you've been supported,

The whole time just as this rhythm of your breath that's here now has always been there.

The whole time you've been supported.

We've all been supported.

Everyone relates to the creative power of the universe in a different way.

The sustaining power of the universe,

That imperishable,

Ancient,

Unfathomable power.

People since the beginning of time have connected with this power,

Have given names to this power,

Have sung to this power,

Have danced for this power,

Have cried out to this power in times of need.

In this meditation,

We're going to give ourselves to this experience.

We're going to give ourselves a chance to have our own connection.

Where you are,

Your body is relaxing,

But it's alive.

Your breath is easy,

Maybe very gentle,

But your breath is moving.

Your breath is constant.

You may even be able to feel your heart beating,

Your blood pulsing.

Can you sense your consciousness that's listening to my voice?

Can you sense that power?

Even the power to even hear these words,

These instructions.

Yeah,

You're listening with your ears,

But can you sense that power that is giving that ability to your ears?

The masters of meditation,

The yogis,

Always direct us here first when we're trying to connect to this higher power.

They direct us to connect to the power that is in us.

Your breath,

Your heartbeat,

Your consciousness,

Your awareness.

The power is on and the power has been on your whole life,

Even when you were asleep,

Even if you were unconscious during this life.

There's a part of you that was there when you were tiny,

Witnessing your early childhood.

That same one is here listening to these instructions.

Your body's changed,

Your life has changed,

Your mind has changed.

This power in you hasn't changed.

It's this power of consciousness.

It's life itself within you.

One day at the end of this life,

Life itself will move on to another form.

For now,

We're going to relax even more deeply into that energy,

Into the breath,

Into life itself moving within us.

We relax into that as a doorway to the infinite.

Beyond your body,

The house,

The building,

The place where you are is supported,

Supported by the earth.

This earth is also supported.

The energy that supports the earth,

That energy that supports all people,

All things,

All animals,

All plants,

Every atom is supported.

Not just earth,

But all the planets,

All the stars,

All of history,

Everything in the present moment,

In the whole future,

Supported perfectly.

As you breathe and relax your body and let your body be supported and you rest into that energy within you,

Let yourself experience that energy that supports all things in all times,

All places.

How do you relate to that power?

Maybe it's just being in this moment of communion,

Of just sensing it,

Just sensing this incredible support.

But maybe there's something in you that longs for a special kind of support.

Maybe there's something in you that wants to call out to that power.

Yes,

It's infinite,

But when we experience it,

It's not impersonal.

You can ask,

You can ask to be touched,

You can ask to be blessed,

You can ask to be healed,

You can ask to be held.

You can do this in a general way.

You may have something specific,

You may have a list of specific blessings to ask for,

To open yourself for.

This is the moment.

There's no formality.

The only requirement is that your communication is true.

The only requirement is your own vulnerability,

Your own receptivity,

And even that you can ask for.

It's not like a two-step thing.

It's not like you make your request and then you wait for the answer.

It's like your breath in and out,

Constant,

You open,

You receive,

You ask,

You receive.

See how receptive you can be.

It's not a mental thing.

It's see if you can receive this communion from the neck down,

Like deep in your body.

And as you receive the support,

As you let go of your controlling,

You let go of your clutching,

You become like a natural thing.

You become like a tree.

You become like an atom,

A wild creature.

This is the mystery of connecting to this universal power.

It's so individual,

So private,

But also as we connect to it,

We experience oneness.

We experience connection,

Communion with everything.

This relationship is what we share with everything,

Everyone.

Don't worry about your mind.

Don't worry about coming in and out of this meditation,

Losing your focus.

This every time you remember what you're doing,

Every time you come back,

Be here,

Open yourself,

Become even more receptive.

In yoga,

This power is described as sat-shit-ananda,

Existence,

Consciousness.

And bliss.

Let yourself relax and receive deeper and deeper into that existence,

That power has always been,

Is always,

And will always be.

That power that is not just all knowing,

But is the awareness of all things.

Infinite pleasure,

Infinite love,

Infinite bliss.

All at once.

Let yourself be held in that.

And as you do,

As you're held,

You may find yourself dissolving.

You may find that sense of me as a separate thing,

Dissolving,

Just go with it.

Try to stay awake,

To experience that.

To finish this meditation,

Just see if there's anything left,

Anything that you want to express,

Anything that you want to ask for,

Give thanks for.

Again,

There's no formality.

It's just about sincerity.

This is a meditation that you can do again and again.

But even if it feels incomplete,

Know that you have been heard,

You've been held.

When that feels complete,

Let your breath deepen once again,

You can let your body move.

When you're ready,

You can open your eyes.
