There are literally thousands of so-called gurus,

So-called masters of the way,

People that have carved their own path.

So is carving your own path a little bit of an over-afflated ego?

Stay with me today as we go into this question,

What is God's will?

And what does that mean to a mystic?

Or what does that mean to a traveler,

A seeker on the path to follow God's will?

How do you know if you're following God's will?

That's a big question and it's one that I can probably give you a little bit of insight on.

But my way is like almost like another person carving his own path.

I followed the superhighways for a certain period of time,

But then as I grew closer to the top I had to carve my own path and draw my own lines and make my decisions.

But I had help making my decisions because I learned to basically tap into this overall supreme consciousness,

This existence that's out there that surrounds us,

It pervades us,

It's in it's every part of us,

It's all it's everywhere.

But how do you tap into that existence?

And today I'd like to get into that a little bit.

First we have to talk about what we call the I.

This in quotation marks I.

This essence that you feel that is you.

That you that feels that it's separate from all of existence.

The I is what causes that separateness,

That separation.

And that feeling that this I is all-knowing or is or the I is very very intelligent or very smart.

That part we can talk about through this story from Tolstoy.

I just read this story today and I thought it was really beautiful and worth a share.

So I'll give my best shot at sharing the story with you.

There was the angel of death sent an angel down to pick up a soul of this woman who had just had birth to three triplets.

In fact the mother was actually breastfeeding more of the triplets as she died as she passed away.

So she was dead and the baby was still feeding off the dead mother.

And the angel felt sorry for these triplets.

He felt she the angel had compassion for these triplets and she basically made the decision that she wasn't going to retrieve the soul of the dead woman and bring it back to the angel of death.

So upon arriving back in heaven the angel told the the Lord of death the story that she had compassion for these three three little babies.

How could she take the mother?

I mean it's just inconceivable.

So the Lord of death said look you don't you're not smarter than me.

You're not all-knowing as I am or as much as I am I should say.

And for your punishment I'm gonna send you back down to earth in human form.

And when you laugh three times at existence then your punishment will be fulfilled and then you can come back and and retrieve souls for me or do other heavenly angel-y things.

And understand this that the ego always laughs at your foolishness.

The ego laughs at nonsense of others.

But when you can laugh at yourself then the ego breaks.

So the angel readily agreed to undergo this punishment and he was quite certain that he was right under the circumstances that the and wondered how in the world he would find an opportunity to laugh at himself.

So he was ejected from heaven and it was almost winter and a cobbler who was on his way to buy warm clothes from for his children came upon a poor man bare to the bones and trembling in the cold.

It was none other than our friend the angel.

So the cobbler felt sorry for the angel and instead of buying the children's clothes with the money with harder money that he'd earned he went and bought clothes for the in a blanket for the naked man.

Then he also came to know that he had nothing to eat and nowhere to go.

So he offered him the the shelter of his own house however he warned him that his wife was bound to get very angry but he should not be upset everything would be alright later on.

So the cobbler arrived home with the angel and neither the cobbler nor the wife had any idea who he really was.

As soon as they entered the door the wife fired off a volley of abuse at her husband for what he had done and the angel laughed for the first time.

So that was laugh number one.

So the cobbler asked him why why he laughed?

He has laughed again and I shall tell you.

He answered knowing that the cobbler's wife was unaware that the very presence of an angel who was with her unwanted guests would confer to a thousand benefits.

But now how far can the human mind see?

For the wife was a was at a loss of warm clothing for the kids she can only see the loss but not what had been found.

And free of cost at that so he laughed because she didn't know what was happening around her.

And within seven days he learned the the shoemaker the shoemakers trade and within those few months the cobbler's fame had spread far and wide and even kings and noblemen ordered their shoes from there and money began to flow in an endless stream of money began to flow in.

So one day the king's servant came to the shop bringing special leather in order to have a pair of shoes made for for the king.

He said take care you make no mistakes for this is the only piece of leather of its kind said the servant.

Also remember the king wants shoes and not slippers and in Russia slippers were worn by a dead person on his last journey.

The cobbler gave special instructions to the angel to be extra careful with the king's orders or else they would be in big trouble.

So in spite of this the angel made the slippers for the king.

The cobbler was beside himself with rage as he's certain he would be hung and he would have to beat the angel with his stick.

So the angel laughed out loud and the very moment that man came running from the king's court saying the king is dead the king is dead so please change your shoes into slippers.

But the angel already made slippers see the angel had a little bit of insight and not as much as the Lord of death but he had a little bit of insight.

So the future is unknown only he knows what is meant to be.

Man's decisions are all based on the past.

When the king was alive he needed the shoes but when he died he required slippers.

The cobbler fell at the angels feet and begged forgiveness.

The angel replied don't worry I am undergoing my own punishment too so he laughed again.

The cobbler said what makes you laugh and the angel said I laughed for the second time because we do not know the future and we still persist in our desires which are never fulfilled.

Because fate has different plans the cosmic law works destiny is set out and we have our we have no say in our in the matter yet we raise you to a cry about things as if we are the mistakes of our own assuming the makers of our own destiny.

The king is about to die but he ordered shoes for himself and life is drawing to a close and we keep planning for the future.

So suddenly the angel thought of the triplets I did not know that their future was going to be then why did I intervene unnecessarily in their affairs the angel asked herself.

So soon the third event took place the three girls accompanied by an old rich woman came into the shop to order the shoes.

The angel recognized the girls as the daughters of the dead woman who had been the cause of his punishment.

All three girls were happy and beautiful and the angel asked the old woman about the girls and she said these are the three daughters of my neighbor the mother was very poor and died while nursing the newborn babies and I felt pity for such helpless babies and since I had no children of my own I adopted them.

Had the mother been alive the girls would have grown up in poverty and suffering because the mother died the girls grew up in riches and comfort and now they are their heirs to the old woman's fortune.

They were also to be married to the royal family.

So the angel laughed for the third time and he told the cobbler my third laugh is because of these girls I was wrong destiny is great while our vision is limited to what we can see what we cannot see is so vast we cannot imagine the the vastness of what we cannot see or what we cannot comprehend it that at that given time in life and with that third laugh the angel was ascended back into heaven and led into heaven and no longer questioned the Lord of Death's motives and this is just a story but it's a beautiful story to express what God's will really means and how do you tap into God's will so the decisions I make throughout my life I tend to make my decisions through a moment of silence I contemplate on something if it's a real serious question if I feel like I need answers to this question really bad can remember there's the I that comes in you say I need to know this I need to know that that that could be the ego expressing itself or wanting to know or become stronger in a way but it could also be that you have a question of the soul that needs to be answered and what I do is basically I go into meditation and I spent a few minutes saying ohms and ohm body Padme hums or something like that and then I put the question into my mind and then I go into silence I dive into this moment of silence and sometimes existence will answer me there was this one time that I had this question about a book I read a couple books I read and something didn't seem right about what how the author described what enlightenment was of course I didn't know what enlightenment was I was just some dumb little skater kid so I read these books and I loved the books they were wonderful books and the question I had was does this man there's this author of this book does he does he know what enlightenment is is he really enlightened like I said I at that time had no comprehension of what enlightenment was but I was meditating and I had nice deep 15 to 30 minute meditation sessions and usually after I came out of the meditation I was I felt cleansed I felt unburdened of all the stress that seemed to exist around me but this one time I took that question into my head you know what is this author know what is he talking about and I went into the meditation and as I came out of the meditation you could say it's out of the blue because a lot of times when you meditate there's this blue skies that seemed to pervade everything before you disappear but out of the blue so a voice said to me Maxwell and at that point I didn't know what this Maxwell meant or who was Maxwell or whatever but I put it in the back of my mind and then a couple weeks later I went to this library in Virginia Beach called the Edgar Cayce centers library and I looked up the author because I was curious as to what this enlightenment was or what this author was talking about and I got into the library and I looked it up on the they didn't have this is before computers were into card catalogs back of the old filing system but I looked up the author Frederick Lenz and I came across a book that Frederick Lenz co-authored with another so-called mystic and Moses name Maxwell and so I found that book in the library and I read it and I'm like okay so everything that he this author talked about in the book he wrote about becoming enlightened or being enlightened he picked up probably from this fellow Maxwell because I could tell that Maxwell had more light than the author did so I'm not dogging the book I'm not dogging the books I read they were great books on Buddhism and techniques of sacred Buddhism and I'm not saying that that's bad or wrong it got me to a point there were things in the book that excelled me and got me to the point where I'm able to tap into this existence this out of the blueness and questions can be answered and when you when you go throughout your daily lives if you have a question about something take a moment take a deep breath close your eyes for a second find that stillness find that emptiness and dive into it and then you'll notice that somewhere in the blue your questions will be answered your decisions will help be made and it's not through your will you're diving into existence when you when you clear your mind and cease to think then you're entering this super consciousness you're entering something bigger than yourself I mean it could be so big it's like the angel of death was saying you know you don't understand the vastness of existence and existence can be could be so vast that there could be several multiverses I know that's the word of the 20th century but it's it's possible that every decision that's made if you made it if you made it with your ego then you'll have to suffer the consequences of that decision so if the if your I you know as you say hey I made this decision I made that decision off my own will then that could change a chain of effects down the line towards a whole bunch of other things that might go on in your life just that one decision that you made with your will could make a whole bunch of changes and I'm not saying this good or bad because we don't have that vision we don't have that clarity and that foresight to know that the decision was wrong or right and actually there is no wrong or right it's just it just changes things so who are we in our infinite wisdom to say that that's wrong or that's right what I'm imparting with this speech is that decisions made by giving your consciousness the chance to answer will never steer you wrong it'll always be the right decision you just have to learn to trust existence you have to learn to trust yourself and trust what trust the outcome and and most of the time when you when you realize that you've done this then you have no regrets you have no ill feelings about whatever decision you made because you know that's that's the only one that could be made at that moment that decision was the decision so I hope this answers a few questions about God's will and what it means to tap into this essence that we call God's will well I guess we'll wrap it up there folks it's been quite a long talk with this beautiful story we got to share from Tolstoy so my insight and I'm not I'm not I'm not another one trying to carve another path for you I'm explaining to you the difference between carving a path with the eye that's carving the path or that could be you at this moment trying to carve your own path and find your own way but a little insight a little guidance along the way would not hurt you in fact it'll bless your journey and help you to live a beautiful and bountiful life less stressful more beautiful more vibrant more energy because you're not fighting existence at that moment you're you're diving into what existence has to offer you and that's the difference anyway I guess I want to say thank you for joining me my name is Douglas Gromins I hope you enjoyed this talk take care of yourselves aloha and namaste my friends bye-bye
