How To Have A Communion With Existence
This meditation is like taking a hot bath that never gets cold! it is like seeing something for the first time and remembering how beautiful that first glance was. This is a way to bring out the godliness in you and give you a new way to look and perceive how God would perceive creation. This is how to go beyond the ego beyond doubt or belief.

Life should be like a dance,
Like a play,
Like something to be excited about,
Something to be shared.
But it's not a journey of the mind,
It's a journey more of the heart than it is more of the mind.
But we have to use words and words convey thoughts into the mind.
So how do we get to the point where we're talking to your heart?
We have to be able to some way bypass the mind,
Go past words and read between the words and feel the essence of what the teacher or the master is trying to convey to you.
So that's what we're going to do for the next few minutes,
The next 15 minutes here.
We're going to share some insights on how to go past the mind and how to have a heart to heart communion with somebody who has many years of going down this road.
So anyway,
I hope you join us.
My name is Douglas Grumman and I thank you again for your time and understanding.
And for some of you this may be like seeing an old friend that you haven't seen in a long time and meeting them again and how joyful and exciting it is to see that person again.
For others it may be that you've never danced before.
Maybe you're just learning how to dance or maybe you've just never been the dancing type.
So I'm going to try a few experiments with you and see what happens.
But like I said,
We're trying to talk to your heart.
We're trying to get in touch with your inner being and we have to go past your mind to do that.
So we'll start it off by teaching you a couple meditations.
The very first meditation is basically you can take a flower or something beautiful that you like to look at and basically stand in front of the flower,
Put it a few feet away from your face and from your eyes and you just stare at the flower.
And you don't put adjectives in.
You don't think,
Oh,
The flower's yellow or the flower's pretty or the flower's fragrance is so alluring and everything.
Basically you just stare at the flower and take away all the adjectives.
Take away all the ways to describe the flower and just stare at it and just absorb this moment between you and the flower.
And when you can do such a thing,
When you spend at least five,
Six minutes,
Maybe 10 minutes staring at this flower,
You share a moment with the flower.
You share a moment with existence that you had never known before.
So the mind breaks down and destroys everything and tries to find the faults and everything.
So we have to go past what the mind is trying to do.
And this meditation with the flower can also be done with a sunset.
You can stare into a sunrise or a sunset and just be absorbed by the beauty.
But don't try to describe it.
Don't put adjectives in it.
Don't say beautiful.
Don't say this,
Don't say that.
Just stare into the sunset or stare into the sunrise and watch the beauty of existence and share a moment with existence.
You will in fact share what we call a Zen moment with existence that you may have never seen or done before.
But it's a way to go past the mind and get in touch with the heart.
And by doing so,
By doing this exercise,
Then you open yourself up to a new existence.
It goes beyond doubt and belief.
Doubt and belief are basically two things that are going on inside your mind.
And here's the cool part about all this.
We take this meditation and this exercise into other things and other aspects of our life.
And we kind of learn not to break things down and destroy them with our mind.
It doesn't mean we can't use our mind for specific purposes of deciding what's safe and what's not safe or how to conduct your life on a normal basis.
What we're talking about is getting in touch with your heart,
Getting in touch with your inner being,
Your inner self.
And when you can carry this meditation on with little things in your life like sunsets or flowers or something beautiful.
Some people even use like a wooden bowl,
You know,
Just something to stare at for 15 minutes and try not to break it down,
You know.
And when you get good at this,
Then you realize you can start looking at people.
And when you see someone or something that you think is very attractive or beautiful,
See how long you can go before you break them down,
Before you try to find the fault in that person.
Make it a daily exercise,
A daily meditation that you go as long as you can without breaking them down,
Without destroying the beauty that exists before you.
And I'm not saying be creepy by,
You know,
Overly staring at people and,
No,
The exercise is just to,
You know,
Let your heart see the person.
Let your heart enjoy this moment to moment.
And you know,
You'll find yourselves,
If you do these exercises,
You'll find yourselves having much more energy and much more vibration and you'll feel closer to existence because you're going past the mind.
You're leaving doubt and belief behind and you're going into what we call more or less a faith,
A faithful existence where faith has trust in it.
We have to basically learn to trust,
You know,
Just about everybody that we come in contact with in a certain way because if you're in a relationship with somebody and,
You know,
Relationships can be hard.
They require you to be trusting.
They require you to,
In a way,
Try to keep seeing the beauty in the person that you're having this relationship with and feel that they're basically goddesses or gods for you ladies.
You know,
That you're in a relationship with someone that is basically an extension of God,
An expression of God.
And if we spend all our time breaking them down or being jealous or,
You know,
Not being in a good frame of centeredness in yourselves,
Then it breaks down the relationship.
Jealousy in fact is the destroyer of love.
Jealousy and love are not the same thing.
I mean,
You may feel jealous at certain times when you're in a relationship with somebody else,
But if you let that jealousy take over your life and control the relationship,
Then you're going to destroy the love that flowers.
Remember,
Love is very fragile.
Love is like a fragrance and has a beauty to itself.
And the best way to experience that love is through the heart rather than,
You know,
Through the mind because,
Like I said,
The mind is going to cause you to have these doubts and these beliefs that maybe this person might cheat on you or this person might not be good to you or,
You know,
So many things can happen.
So many negative things come into mind.
Doubt itself is a negative phenomenon.
Belief is more maybe on the positive side,
But doubt and belief go hand in hand like two sides to the same coin.
They're two aspects of one thing,
And if you want to have a beautiful,
Long-lasting,
Loving relationship with somebody,
Then you have to be able to trust that person.
And trust is more important than doubt and faith is.
Trust is so important that even though the person might hurt you,
You still give them that benefit of trust.
I say benefit of doubt,
But I'm trying to help you go past doubt.
So you give them the benefit of being that if you love this person and you shower them with this love and this attention and this isness that you are,
This isness of a person who has learned not to break things down and destroy them.
This isness of a person who can express their love and share their love.
And the more you share with love,
The more you get back.
That's the universal law of love.
It's not like money.
With money,
The more you share,
The broker you become.
But with love,
It's just the opposite.
The more you share,
The more you get back.
The more you can give,
Then the more you'll get back.
And it all starts with basically staring at something beautiful.
Some flowers are just something that you are lured to and learning how to not break it down.
Learning how to not destroy it and destroy its essence.
A flower is more beautiful if it's still in a pot or out in nature to grow wild.
In a way,
You destroy the flower when you cut it.
You started this journey towards death much faster than it would have if it had its existence in nature.
So that's where it starts.
It starts with learning to let your heart and your inner being shine and see things as they are.
And you'll find that if you do this meditation with people,
You might be able to go a minute or two.
You'll be amazed how fast it is before the mind starts to break them down.
But you make it an exercise and you try to go as long as you can.
A minute,
Five minutes,
Half an hour,
A day.
All these things turn into almost how a Zen monk or a tantrika from the tantric experience might experience things.
You're expressing something from your inner being.
Like I said,
If you can go half an hour without breaking down somebody,
Then you can surely go much longer.
Eventually you'll learn that the exercise can take over your life and help you to see things as they really are.
God sees things every day without breaking them down.
I would say he or she never breaks anything down.
God sees you in all your glory.
He never looks at you as something negative or something not beautiful because he made you beautiful.
He made everyone beautiful.
You may not feel that beauty within yourself.
I can't say that I'm the most attractive person in the world either,
But God sees us as what we are,
This shining example,
This explosion of consciousness.
Nothing is as beautiful as a human being in the most part.
Trees are beautiful.
Of course the ocean is beautiful.
The sky is beautiful.
Everything has a certain beauty to it.
But it doesn't have the same consciousness as man or woman has.
We have something that nobody or nothing else has.
Consciousness is the ability to become reunited into a global consciousness,
Into a Christ consciousness you could call it,
Or a unified cosmic consciousness.
The way that I'm trying to get you to have a heart-to-heart with me,
With other people,
Is basically to learn how to use that heart in the first place.
A way to let existence respond to what you think is beautiful,
What you think is ugly,
No matter how you think you might want to break something down.
Give existence the benefit of the doubt.
Learn to let your heart see first before you make a judgment call,
Or you may make the wrong decision in life if you just use the mind,
If you're just using doubt and belief.
Then there's always that chance that it might turn out bad.
But if you give the heart its moment,
Its moment to shine,
Its eyes,
And basically the heart does have eyes.
And if you give existence this opportunity to shine,
Then you'll find that you'll be much more loving yourself.
You'll be able to have much more capacity of loving and being able to share that love.
So yeah,
It all starts by listening to someone's words,
But words basically express something or a thought in your mind.
But let's take it past our minds.
Let's take it to our hearts.
Let's take it to the center of our being and learn to live from that center.
You can still use your mind,
Like I said,
For many,
Many things.
Thinking is a beautiful thing.
But when it comes to spirituality,
When it comes to love and sharing and coexisting with other human beings or other animals or other plants and trees and the sun and the air and everything that else is around us,
You have to let your heart have its moment.
Let it shine.
Anyway,
I guess that is hopefully enough insight to help you guys change some little things about you.
It's a subtle change.
It's very small.
This is a very subtle thing to do.
And I hope you don't get slapped by some beautiful woman.
I mean,
It's like if you don't know a person and you walk up to them and say,
Oh,
You have beautiful eyes or you have beautiful hair or something like that,
You could be stroking their ego or you could be basically making someone feel so much better about themselves that they didn't think anyone else would even appreciate if their hair looked nice or if they had pretty eyes or something like that.
But before you make those judgments,
Just give a person the benefit of the doubt.
Don't break them down.
See how long you can go without breaking somebody down.
It's a beautiful way to express your inner being and be the person you were meant to be.
Hi,
Guys and girls.
Namaste and aloha to all my surfing friends.
Not much for waves today.
It's really cold outside.
I know I don't want to talk politics or anything,
But I just feel exuberated by what's going on with the Ukraine.
I can't say anything about it that might be construed as spiritual or non-spiritual.
I don't want to talk politics.
My heart goes out to all the Ukrainians and all the Russians,
Too,
And all the people that might lose their lives over one man's vision of how things used to be.
Anyway,
Y'all take care of yourselves.
Much love and namaste and aloha.
Bye-bye.
