A while back,
Probably about 15,
I fell in love with the work of Osho around 1996,
I want to say.
Was given a book of Osho's from a friend who I studied Aikido with,
And his name was Leo,
And I don't know how he knew that I would love this book so much or why it would change my life so drastically,
But it did.
I found out later that Osho had other books,
And also he was called something else earlier,
He was called Rajneesh before he was called Osho,
Before he changed his name.
But anyway,
I collected hundreds of Osho books,
And apparently the guy had about 650 books,
I don't know if they were all in English or not,
But I loved finding a new book.
Every time I went on a vacation somewhere,
Around the world basically,
In Greece I found books,
In London I found books,
Anyone that would part with a book.
I had a sannyasin friend,
A sannyasin is a follower of Osho's,
And she actually knew Osho and lived in his ashram for a while,
But she sold books in New York City,
And I would go and collect like 20,
30 books at a time from her,
Because she sold them relatively cheap and back then I had quite a bit of money to spend,
And I never knew that I would find time to read all these books,
It was just like finding a diamond in a coal mine,
And I would get so excited every time I found a new book.
So anyway,
To make a long story short,
I bought one of these books,
I probably had it for like 15 years before I got around to finding it,
But the title I think is called And Now and Here by Osho,
And it's a book about death and life,
And how they coexist with each other.
And I think Osho,
And I've heard other mystics say this too,
But it's really not two words,
It's life and death,
It's just life-death,
It's one word,
Or death-life you could say.
They're pretty much inseparable.
So I'm going to get into this a little bit and discuss with you guys some of this insight that I picked up from Osho,
And without plagiarizing his book,
Just kind of help share with you what I got out of it and what I picked up from it,
In hopes that it might help you to live better.
And I know that sounds like a conundrum,
Like how can something teaching us about death help us to live better?
So let's get into that,
Let's dive into it and discuss some deeper meanings of life.
Growing up in the construction field with my father,
Who was an amazing contractor,
He was pretty well versed at all the different aspects of the construction industry.
One of the things he knew pretty well was masonry work.
And the masons are a secret society that's alive in our culture today.
And there are so many interesting things about masons that we don't know,
Or they keep secret so we don't know what these things are about.
But one of the things that I've learned is when a mason makes a doorway,
An arched doorway,
It's interesting to find out that each brick he lays on each side of the opposing side has to be laid in a certain order,
In a certain way.
And these bricks support each other.
Without the ones on the left,
The ones on the right would fall.
And without the ones on the right,
The left would fall.
So the secret is of building an arch is to place the bricks one at a time and use some sort of tool or another person to help you do this.
Maybe a person helping would be a lot,
Because to do it with two hands might be.
.
.
I can't figure out how they do it,
But it's just like the rocks that sculptors are building with nature right now,
The rocks that you see along the seashore and you see rock piles leading up,
But some of them make arches.
The real skilled guys make arches with them.
Life is kind of like the bricks on the left and death is like bricks on the right.
The opposing forces,
When put together,
Support each other and make actually the doorway happen.
Without the archway,
The doorway couldn't happen.
The support of the bricks would be too much and you would need some sort of steel brace if you didn't have an archway.
But back in the olden days,
They didn't have steel braces,
They just made archways.
And this is one of the masonary secrets about life is that God,
The ultimate masonary,
The ultimate architect of life,
He knew what he was doing when he created the world.
He knew that life would not have a luster to it.
It wouldn't be so vibrant if it didn't have some opposing force to it.
So death is needed and understanding more about the death side of things will help you and enhance your life.
Without the opposing force,
Like I said,
Everything would be dull.
Life wouldn't have the luster that it has and the excitement of life and the vibrancy that comes from this opposing force gives it its beauty.
So one of the key things to take away from that is that meditation is kind of a sort of death.
It is facing death.
When you still the mind completely and become completely calm and serene,
The mind has a certain death to it.
Of course it comes back.
So don't be worried about that.
But it comes back.
It's so blissful taking a break from this constant chaos that the mind seems to create all the time.
So by facing meditation,
Facing the abyss,
Facing darkness,
All those things that sound taboo to talk about,
I think the reason why people call it a taboo to talk about death or sex is that there's a fear of losing your life if you talk about these things.
You'll have more of a stressful time in life,
I guess.
So these things are normally not talked about.
But if we go into death and understand death,
If we understand the opposing forces to life,
Then it makes our life more abundantly beautiful.
I recently responded to a post on Facebook of a young lady who,
I've seen this story over and over again,
They've lost their job,
They've lost their husband,
They may have lost a child,
They may have lost something,
But there's all this despair in life.
All these crazy things seem to be happening and this array of bad luck.
It happens to a lot of people when they start their spiritual search.
Maybe we should rephrase that a little bit.
Because it doesn't start happening on the spiritual search,
It's always been happening,
But now you've become aware of it.
Now you're facing reality rather than being an ostrich and hiding your head in the sand and pretending it doesn't exist.
So there's that.
And also,
It could be a test.
A test from existence.
Because if you keep letting all these bad things that happen to you weigh you down and you don't learn how to let them go,
Let them go through meditation,
Use dynamic meditation that Osho has,
Or use any type of form of release to let off some of the steam,
Let off some pressure out of your mind and out of your existence,
Yeah,
Life is going to throw some hard things at all of us.
It's not easy.
No one said life was going to be easy,
But when you learn to accept that these things are going to happen and learn to not hold them in and let the weight of them destroy your life,
Then your life can change.
So a lot of people have this thing they call the dark night of the soul.
And that's where you're facing these realities for the first time and the light hasn't come in yet.
And this can go back to a fear of death,
A fear of more things going wrong,
Or life getting worse.
But it can only get better when you learn how to release it,
When you let it go.
Just give it back to existence.
There's a meditation that I learned,
One of Osho's,
Where for like seven and a half minutes you give existence back all the emotions that you have inside of you,
Negative,
Positive,
Beauty,
Sadness.
Give it all back to existence and use your hands in a circular motion and out in front of you while you're meditating.
And you just imagine your hands going in circles out away from you and giving existence back all that's been given to you.
And you do that for like seven and a half minutes.
And then you go and reverse the order and pull the energy into you.
So you give to existence first.
And I think in a way God wants us to give back these experiences to him so that he can help us cope with them.
So by giving back first and then reversing the order,
And for seven and a half minutes you pull energy in,
You make circular motions with your hands out in front of you and cupping like air and pulling it into your heart and holding it there for a few seconds.
Do that meditation.
Try it and see what happens.
So these opposing forces of life and death can't weigh you down and destroy your life.
Once you accept this fact that they are working together,
Without one the other would fall and we couldn't have one.
We couldn't have life without death.
But do this meditation and accept the energy in for seven and a half minutes.
Then after you do that,
Seven and a half minutes of giving,
Seven and a half minutes of receiving,
Have some meditation music going on but just sit there in silence and just observe what goes on.
Relax your breathing.
Relax your mind.
Relax your thoughts.
Just sit there and keep relaxing and keep going into silence and for a few moments give existence a chance to do some work on you.
It'll help you change your life for the better.
And like I said,
There are so many of my friends on Facebook and I belong to this group and I try so hard to respond to everyone that's going through this same trauma saying,
Look,
This is part of life and this is how you do it and this is how you get over it.
Good times will come your way.
If you meditate often,
What happens is that energy is raised within you and when you raise energy through the four bodies,
Then the physical,
The emotional,
The intellectual and the spiritual bodies,
If you raise energy upwards,
Then the law of levitation takes over and when this happens,
You're full of bliss.
Your life really does change a lot when you raise your energy upwards.
The lower three chakras,
The solar plexus,
The sex chakra and the root chakra,
They root you to the earth and there's a need for having you to be rooted to the earth and if you never raise energy up into the higher three chakras,
The ones above the heart,
Of course the heart is the center chakra,
That heart part is where God lives within you.
That's where God resides.
But a lot of us never raise our energy up to that point enough to meet God.
So we don't know and we never experience it.
And if you don't know this and if you don't experience it,
I don't care what religion you are or what you believe or what superstition you have about life and death,
You're going to be made to recreate and redo this whole thing all over again.
So if you die prematurely and you haven't raised the energy,
Then the lower three chakras keep you grounded to the earth.
So that may be a little bit of superstition involved,
But a lot of it is actually self-observation from what I've seen within myself and what I've seen in others.
So now the gate that happens from all this raising energy is in the heart.
And like I said,
Once you raise 51% of your energy up into the heart center,
Then a gate is unlocked.
A key,
The key is given to you and you can say enlightenment happens,
It's also the doorway to samadhi.
Enlightenment happens at first and it's a way where you can actually see this union with godliness,
This union with existence.
It's visual and you'll see light like you've never seen light before.
And I don't want to try to describe it all because I don't want to give it away,
All the surprise that's awaiting for you if you ever take this journey and raise your energy upwards.
But the top three chakras,
The throat,
The third eye,
And the crown,
Have more to do with the afterlife,
More to do with the spiritual side,
The spiritual thing,
The realms of existence where spirituality exists.
And when a lot of people die,
They may get stuck in one of these realms.
You can get stuck in either the throat or the third eye.
Now the crown is the ultimate goal,
The ultimate happening in life,
The peak experience of everything.
The crown is where not only God lives within you,
But it is God's abode.
This crown that we see,
They depict it in paintings with people having a halo around their head,
A golden crown.
And if you've raised your energy high enough to get up into the crown chakra,
Then you're experiencing peak godliness,
Pure godliness.
It's so pure that it can't be described,
It can't be talked about.
It's where you completely disappear into existence.
And when you completely disappear into existence,
Then what happens is while you're almost like outside of your body into your highest realm of your physical being,
Then godliness is replacing you.
While you're not there,
Godliness fills you up.
And the only way to know that you experience this ultimate samadhi is that when you come out of it,
You're full of bliss.
I've had these meditations where I used to get into this samadhi so much and so often that I would lie on the floor of my meditation room for like 45 minutes after I meditate,
Not able to move an inch,
Just so full of bliss and so full of love and vibrancy.
And when these things happen to you,
When you raise your energy up to these levels,
Then all those lower things,
All the happenings of life that are weighing you down and distracting you from raising energy,
Distracting you from living your life,
They mean nothing anymore.
It's not that they didn't happen and they didn't hurt,
But when you experience spirituality in its highest realms,
Then life changes.
You're no longer living in stress.
You're no longer living in time.
Time actually stops for you when you enter the heart chakra and you raise that 51% up into the heart.
This is when time stops and you enter into eternity.
So the takeaway from all this is that meditation is the key.
Love is such a beautiful thing,
But love and meditation are two sides to the same coin.
You cannot separate the two.
So the more meditative you are,
The more loving you'll become.
Or the more loving you become,
The more meditative you will be and your pure essence will radiate meditation if you're a loving person.
So yeah,
It works both ways and these are some of the key secrets to accepting life and accepting that death is a part of life.
There is no escaping it and the only real escape is to go past that 51% mark and experience what death is for the first hand.
I won't ruin the surprise for everybody,
But there's so much beauty and so much allure of the ninth and tenth levels of existence,
The levels I call samadhi.
The lowest level of samadhi coincides with the throat chakra and with the throat chakra there is sound and your ears and sound are all a part of a lower form of samadhi.
And of course the third eye is all visual.
And when the third eye is open,
Then you can visually see what happens in the throat.
When you pass through that dimension in meditation,
You'll see it.
So it's really beautiful.
But it's also,
From what I understand and what I feel myself,
Is that it's also like one of the last temptations.
It's the last thing that you'll experience before you experience pure godliness.
But all that awaits you if you face these things and you embrace life and realize how beautiful it is and how precious it is.
No matter how many bad things happen to us,
No matter what goes wrong in our lives,
The intense moments we have in life,
Those moments where,
For a surfer,
Like he gets barreled or something,
We experience pure bliss and pure emptiness inside the barrel and time seems to stand still.
But time also seems to stand still for the meditator.
You don't need to put your ass on the line and surf over shallow reef and experience this moment of eternal bliss.
You can do it meditating too.
And I know a lot of surfers think that people who meditate are kooks,
But if the person is meditating the right way and they experience this samadhi,
They experience this enlightenment,
And the kookness ends.
That's the end of the kookness.
But anyway,
I guess we'll end it there.
I hope this was very informative and enlightening and I hope that it changes your lives.
Like I said,
You can find me on Facebook under Douglas Grumman's and if you need to direct message me and ask questions,
That's fine.
If not,
You guys take care of yourselves and have a beautiful life and enjoy it.
Enjoy its ups and downs.
All these opposing forces in life are usually not opposing each other,
They're usually complementing each other.
We just can't see it.
We just don't have the vision to look that far into it.
So that's what I'm here for.
Anyway,
Y'all take care of yourselves.
Much love.
Aloha and blue skies to all you skydivers.
Bye-bye.
