Welcome to this mindfulness meditation on the theme of the earth element,
The foundation.
Also our root chakra,
Muladhara chakra.
So you can take time to become comfortable,
Maybe find a comfortable seat.
If you prefer to lie down,
Feel free to.
Just somewhere where your body feels supported and comfortable,
So that there's less inclination to need to fidget or move.
So you can take any movement that you might need to,
Any adjustments that you might need to,
To become comfortable.
Then once you arrive,
Perhaps you take a lovely deep breath and just feel your breath fill the whole of your body.
You can sigh out,
Allowing that breath to be like a conscious pause.
At the beginning of your practice,
It can take a moment perhaps to set a mindful intention and that can be as simple as remaining present or doing your best to remain present throughout this meditation.
Allowing your intention to settle,
Taking deep breaths as you might need to,
Just to encourage a sense of soft relaxation into body,
Into a state of mind.
Every exhale you might feel some tension soften.
And then as your breath resumes its natural rhythm,
Simply placing your attention into your breath.
Maybe noticing where you feel your breath,
Perhaps most prominently in your nostrils or your throat,
Or your chest or the heart.
The whole of your body.
Without feeling any need to change or analyze or judge your breathing pattern.
Simply placing your awareness there.
Seeing if you can focus onto just that rhythm of your breath.
The steadiness of your breath.
Your breath as the foundation of your mindfulness practice.
Feel your attention settle into your breathing.
Meeting each breath as though for the first time.
Can begin to travel our awareness down to the base of the spine.
As though you could breathe into the base of the spine.
And the center point between the two halves of your pelvis.
If you're seated,
You might imagine roots down from your sits bones into the earth.
Feeling yourself anchored there.
And then as attention rests,
At the base of your spine,
The location of your root chakra,
Your Mooladhara chakra.
The energy center associated with feeling safe.
Grounded.
Settled.
Exactly where you need to be.
Perfect just as you are.
You can imagine a drop of warm,
Coppery red light at this point at the base of your spine.
Feel the warmth of that red glow.
Perhaps with each breath,
That warm red glow fills down through the lower body.
And you feel that downward rooting energy of the earth.
Magnetic pull of earth.
Allowing you to feel held by the warmth of the earth.
The density of the layers of earth beneath you.
Each breath anchoring.
Allowing you to feel tethered.
Allowing yourself to root into stability.
Still plugged into the earth.
Perhaps that image of roots like a tree.
And you find a reciprocity with earth.
As your seat roots down.
Perhaps the crown of your head draws taller like a tree.
Rooted.
Steady.
Growing.
And it's okay for that growth to be slow and gradual.
A reminder that the earth itself moves slowly.
A movement of earth like an antidote to a fast pace of life.
Steady,
Slow,
Gradual.
Nothing hurried.
Enjoy a few moments basking in that steadiness of your breath.
Steadiness in your body.
Steadiness in your state of mind.
Allowing those qualities to sink in.
Become embedded.
And embodied.
So that as you move through the rest of your day.
You can notice moments when it feels like things are moving too fast.
And you can come back to steady,
Slow movement of earth.
Perhaps moments when you feel ungrounded.
You can feel the magnetic pull of the earth.
Rooting you down.
If you have an opportunity to be barefoot on the earth.
Maybe you connect to earth's element simply by remaining present throughout your day.
Being where your feet are on the earth.
And as we prepare to transition from this meditation into the rest of your day.
I'll offer you an affirmation.
Related to the earth element.
To your root chakra.
You can silently repeat to yourself.
I am centered and peaceful.
I meet myself with compassion.
Exactly as I am.
Time for affirmation to sink in.
Become embedded.
Embodied within.
Carried with you beyond this space.
Take a few more moments.
Feel that warm glow at the base of your spine.
A sense of warmth.
Feeling centered.
Feeling exactly where you need to be.
Whenever you're ready.
You can blink your eyes open.
Maybe take in whatever view of earth you have before you.
Moment of appreciation and gratitude.
Thank you for sharing your practice with me today.
I hope you have a beautiful earthy day.
