When what we suppress rises to the surface, it can surprise us. Let us allow ourselves the opportunity to sit with it. Let it teach us what we are neglecting about ourselves. It is ok if it's not ok. That is also ok. We have the strength to face what we need to, after all, it has been sitting in our bones all along. Let us shift it. Allow it room to come up, feel it, then with a thankful heart, release it.

Finding strength.

It hurts when the walls come crashing down from years of cracks you neglected to notice appearing.

The small unattended emotional injuries that felt like rain at the time accumulating into a threatening thunderstorm.

You feel like a knitted sweater that unravels when someone asks you how you are.

There is a frog in your throat that makes your voice quiver and your eyes look like you've been cutting onions.

It's okay.

It is not okay.

But I am saying that is also okay.

Give yourself permission to feel the length and breadth of your sadness.

However long it takes,

Really feel it.

Allow it to sit next to you on your bench.

Don't shun it.

Listen to it lament from its depth.

Try not to interrupt its outpouring.

It has come to show you where you have been neglecting yourself.

It might have even come to save you.

Don't chase this divine conversational way.

Because you are divine.

Be brave enough to hold yourself in your sadness.

You deserve it.

You might be afraid of what will rise to the surface,

But guess what?

You are strong enough to handle it.

Haven't you been carrying it all along?

Let it rise so that you can release it.

Honor your body by flushing away the bitterness that settled at the bottom of your river.

You deserve it.

A clear bubbling brook.

That is what you are.

See yourself as such.

Allow the pain to express its temper tantrum.

You have suppressed it long enough.

Release it.

You are worth every minute of the healing process.

Listen to your thoughts without judgment or shame.

You are a multifaceted person.

Do your thoughts surprise you?

Even so,

You are fully loved.

Even your shadows.

Hold yourself with the knowledge that you are going to get through the storm.

Because you are resilient.

You have sojourned this earth as a child of the universe all your life.

Life itself is abundant in you.

Give it a chance to live.

Your breath is here to support you.

Your heart is here to beat for you strongly,

In rhythm.

See you are alive.

See you are living.

Live.

Live.

Live.

You are fully loved.

You are absolutely worth spending the time you need to get through this.

And you will.

Please remember to see yourself too.

Guess what?

Life itself is on your side.

Breathe.

Breathe.

Breathe.
