Welcome,

This is Guri.

I invite you to find your most comfortable position,

Preferably sitting on the floor or on a chair.

Keep your back upright but not uptight.

Gently close your eyes and bring your awareness in this moment.

We will start with grounding yourself with the earth.

Bring your awareness to how your body is touching the surface of the floor.

Below the floor there are many layers that lead you to the center of the earth.

You are rooted to the earth like a tree.

Be aware of how the earth holds you up,

Makes you feel secure and balanced.

There can be number of reasons you chose this practice today.

It can be the overwhelm after watching news,

The loss of lives,

Afraid of the unknown or maybe something totally different.

Manifestation of eco-anxiety can happen through different emotions such as anger,

Fear,

Vulnerability,

Sadness,

Frustration or grief.

Whether it's an emotion or sensation,

I invite you to observe it from a distance without indulging in and entertaining these thoughts.

When you feel more in control of your eco-anxiety,

Without any judgment,

Acknowledge it because your response is valid to this existential threat.

It is actually a good sign that your mind and body are working fine.

Your natural warning system is working and your emotions come from a place of compassion,

Love and care for other beings and for nature.

Spend some time here to honor your eco-anxiety with the feeling of compassion.

When you feel strong emotions such as fear,

Anxiety,

Worry or whatever emotion is coming up,

Visualize these emotions flowing out of you and into the earth.

Become aware of your breath,

Air coming in through your nostrils,

Going down all the way to your lungs.

This air keeps you alive as it contains oxygen that comes from the environment around you,

The plants,

The trees,

The oceans that surround us.

Nature provides us the food we eat,

The clothes we wear,

The houses we live in provide safety and security.

We are not independent and we cannot be independent.

The whole nature has to be interdependent to create harmony.

This is the basis of our lives,

Interdependence with the earth.

Rest in this moment,

Relax here and trust that you are part of nature.

Using your breath to bringing in the earth's compassion when you inhale and sending out gratitude when you exhale.

Now we're going to move towards a bit of a challenging part of this meditation.

I would invite you to visualize any place or being that is suffering from climate change.

Maybe it's a human,

Animals,

Lake,

River or a community.

Bring to mind how the environment and climate change affects them.

When you feel strong emotions,

Bring your awareness on your intention to heal,

To care and nurture that into the feeling of compassion.

Now we are beginning to move into Tonglen practice that means giving and receiving.

While going through this practice,

Some people worry about receiving bad energy or suffering.

I would like you to see that as you're releasing this energy into the earth with the help of the earth and not keeping it in your body.

Now generating these feelings of love,

Care and compassion,

Visualize yourself with the help of Mother Earth on your inhale.

You're drawing out their suffering and sending them healing when you exhale.

Sometimes visualizing the suffering in the form of gray energy or fog as you inhale and imagining you sending out compassion in the form of a white healing light as you exhale.

As a reminder,

Sometimes this can bring up strong emotions such as fear or anxiety.

If that happens during this practice,

Simply move your awareness to grounding yourself with the earth and receive love and compassion for yourself.

When you're ready again,

Come back to this practice of giving and receiving.

Giving them compassion and receiving their suffering.

You can do this practice for as long as you want.

As we are moving closer to the end of this practice,

It's time for you to receive the earth's compassion and to pay your gratitude in return.

So take this moment to hold in the earth's compassion for you.

As you finish this practice,

Notice the feeling you get from transforming your ego anxiety into healing and caring for others.

Whenever you feel drained,

Come back to this practice.

You can also take a few moments in your day to send gratitude and receive compassion from the earth.

And if you feel motivated,

You can also look into taking some practical action to protect what you love,

Your planet,

Our planet.

I'm sending you peace and love.

May this practice help you,

Heal you,

And through you,

May it heal our mother earth.
