Let's practice this movement into the inner world together now.

It helps to begin with recognizing what is happening in the mind and noticing if there are any thought loops that you've been replaying,

Any kind of inner movie about something,

About some role that you've been playing or how you are perceived by others.

Just notice whatever has been holding you in your mind.

Now as you notice this,

Allow yourself to step outside of this play that's going on in the mind.

Step back from being caught in that thought loop and all its drama.

Make a shift to being an observer from outside the play of thought.

Not self accusingly,

Not harshly,

Just very very gently letting that thought go.

It's like a gentle movement of unhooking from these thoughts,

Unhooking your attention so that the thoughts can gently float off.

And as you let go of the thoughts,

Allow your attention to fall back into the quiet space that remains.

Try not to use your imagination to do this as much as feeling this in your body with your inner senses.

It's the inner feeling of gently easing your grip of attention from your thoughts and resting back into the stillness of presence that remains.

Someone has described this as listening to the quiet places inside.

You're listening to the quiet places inside.

You're listening to the quiet places inside.

Have a sense of moving down in your own being from that head level where we usually have our attention and sense of selfhood gradually slipping down with our attention,

Feeling first of all your mouth from inside.

It's just a helpful way of moving down in our beings from being totally caught at the thought level.

Notice how your mouth feels from inside.

Intentionally relax your jaw,

Your tongue.

Just become aware of that space from within.

And then gradually when you are ready,

Let your attention move down further like a bubble in a lava lamp very slowly moving down through your throat.

You could follow your breath as you breathe in,

Feeling it from within as your lungs receive the fresh breath.

Have a sense of receiving this breath from this level of your lungs,

Your chest,

Your heart area.

You now rest at this level of awareness.

And if you find your mind caught in thoughts again,

Hovering at that surface level,

That's okay.

Just again gently recognize,

Let go and hook from that and drop down again with your attention,

Feeling into the stillness of resting at this heart level.

Rest here in openness and trust.

It's a kind of leaning back into being present at this level of your being.

And then remaining here resting in the still presence and embrace of the indwelling God.

Allowing ourselves to rest into the stillness of this inner well.

So we'll spend a few minutes just resting here in faith.

You are resting in the living waters and trust yourself to the gentle presence in the silence.

You don't have to know what's happening,

In fact that's the point.

Moving from our knowing control to surrender.

Allow your soul to remain in resigned humility.

Let it bear as a fountain relies on its source.

Let's continue the conversation about today's importance to not be a walking chelsea.

By prayer lunch,

Holy Thank you.
