Welcome to the practice of Tongue Glend for the suffering of others.

Find a comfortable seat.

Allow your eyes to close fully or partially.

The spine is straight.

The body relaxed.

And connect to the heart,

The center of the chest.

We offer the fruits of this practice and our entire being to that which is greater than ourselves,

The consciousness of oneness,

Perceived as our very essence.

We offer the fruits of this practice and our entire being to that which is greater than ourselves,

The consciousness of oneness,

Perceived as our very essence.

We invoke the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas,

The awakened beings,

To help us reveal the deep essence of our self as love and compassion.

We invoke the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas,

The awakened beings,

To help us reveal the deep essence of our self as love and compassion.

Begin to connect to the depth of your heart.

Begin to connect to the depth of your heart,

The place of wholeness,

Unconditional love,

And freedom within you,

Which rests at the heart.

Begin to connect to the depth of your heart,

The place of wholeness,

Unconditional love,

And freedom within you,

Which rests at the heart.

Begin to connect to the depth of your heart,

The place of wholeness,

Unconditional love,

And freedom within you,

Which rests at the heart.

Start to visualize a person in front of you whom you know to be suffering.

Imagine them sitting directly in front of you,

Seeing their pain and suffering.

Imagine them sitting directly in front of you,

Seeing their pain and suffering.

Imagine them sitting directly in front of you,

Seeing their pain and suffering.

As you inhale,

Begin to draw this pain and suffering into the heart,

Into the depth of your being,

Where it is automatically transformed into light,

Love,

And freedom.

And exhale this love back to the person.

And exhale this love back to the person.

And exhale this love back to the person.

Continuing in this way,

Inhale suffering.

Inhale love.

And exhale this love back to the person.

And you can use any words that resonate with you,

Or let go of the words,

And rest in this perception of inhaling,

Receiving,

And exhaling,

Giving.

And exhale this love back to the person.

And exhale this love back to the person.

Letting yourself go beyond the limited perspective of yourself as a separate being,

Tapping into the absolute reality of yourself as the consciousness of oneness.

And you can use any words that resonate with you as the consciousness of oneness.

And you can use any words that resonate with you as the consciousness of oneness.

And you can use any words that resonate with you as the consciousness of oneness.

A few more moments.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Gently let go of the practice.

And rest in the space that remains.

And exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

And let go of the practice of resting the attention in the heart.

Let go of any identity.

And let go of any identity.

And let go of any identity.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Inhale.

We conclude the practice with the thought of gratitude for the ability to be with the suffering of others.

Gratitude that we may practice compassion.

You may continue with your own practice of tonglen for a group or for the planet.

We end our practice here.

My new favorite guided tonglen practice🙂 there was just enough guidance and just enough silence in which to do the actual work. Just perfect! Ty

Few instructions, lots of time to follow them. Few explanations, just the practice. It's the first tonglen meditation I have found on Insight Timer which has the characteristics I was looking for. Thank you!
