A guided,

Getting grounded meditation.

This meditation is inviting you to imagine and visualize.

Please feel free to join me in this visualization of embodying mountain,

Embodying nature.

This meditation is good for grounding,

Illuminating inner strength,

Resolving to be still and bringing oneself back to center,

Returning back home.

So I invite you to join me in a comfortable seated position.

This could be on the ground,

Leaning against a wall,

On a chair,

On the edge of your bed.

Find what feels comfortable for you.

Nice,

And as we settle in,

Sitting tall,

Proud,

Finding that alert and at the same time relaxed position,

I invite you to join me in observing the breath,

Flowing in,

Flowing out.

It's okay if your mind gets distracted.

Can we come back to our breath?

Imagine the breath moving through your system,

Your being,

Your body.

Maybe inviting that breath to slow down.

And now I invite you to imagine or picture your favorite mountain or perhaps the first mountain that pops into your mind.

Imagining its shape,

The quality,

The vastness,

Its tall,

Its slopes,

Its edges,

Its width,

Its height.

Does the mountain's roots spread wide,

Solid?

And as you sit and breathe with this image,

Noticing how that makes you feel.

Seeing it's sturdy,

Grounded,

Majestic image.

And as you breathe in,

You might imagine inhaling this image of the mountain into your being,

Making it part of you.

As if you are embodying this mountain and you are the mountain.

Long in your base,

Like the mountain,

Sturdy in your body,

Like the body of the mountain.

As you keep visualizing the mountain,

Feeling your head reaching up to the sky,

As if your head were the peak and your body the depth and breadth of the mountain.

Your legs in the base,

The roots,

The foundation of the sturdy,

Sturdy mountain,

Burrowing into the earth,

The soil.

And as you visualize the mountain and you being the mountain,

Strong,

Sturdy,

Centered,

Majestic,

Proud,

Taking up space.

Feeling the body of the mountain within your body,

A sense of grounding,

A sense of lifting upward and outward,

Taking up space.

As you imagine being this mountain,

Seeing the sun rise and set,

Seeing the stars twinkle in millions,

Seeing the moon radiate,

Glowing in the sky and radiate on your slopes,

The sides of the mountain.

And you see summer with all its glory and brightness,

Warmth.

And you see the seasons change,

Merging into autumn.

And as the leaves fall,

Feel that sense of settling,

Letting go.

Still centered and sturdy at your center,

Sturdy and strong like the mountain.

And as winter comes,

Bringing the weather to change,

Being colder,

Perhaps feeling the wind,

The weather that cloaks your body,

Until it softly melts to spring.

And all this time,

You are unmoving,

Accepting of all seasons,

Light,

Dark,

Sun,

Rain,

Clouds,

Snow,

Cold,

Warmth.

And letting this be a metaphor that everything in our lives is constantly changing,

Nature around us,

Our bodies,

Our minds.

Everything is constantly changing.

No moment the same.

And like the mountain,

We have periods of light,

Dark,

Warmth,

Cold,

Storms,

Stillness,

Calm,

Joy,

Sorrow,

The weather of our minds.

And amidst all of this,

Can we find that stillness?

Can we find a sense of calm,

A sense of feeling at ease in our body,

Strong,

Centered,

Like the mountain?

In this moment,

Can you feel an equanimity,

A non-reactiveness to the ever-changing kaleidoscope of your life?

Embodying this mountain,

You are the mountain,

Accepting of all,

Observing the changes,

Centered and strong,

Grounded and tall,

The roots of your foundation strong and steady.

And as you picture or feel the embodiment of being a mountain,

Taking deep breaths in and out,

As we start to zoom out,

Perhaps now coming back to the image of your mountain,

Now seeing it in the distance,

Taking the qualities that you need with you throughout the rest of your day,

Coming back into the room that you are in,

Through your senses,

Sound,

Touch,

Smell,

Taste,

And visual,

Still imagining this mountain,

Always there within reach,

As you arrive back centered,

Watching your breath flow in and out,

Taking this sense of grounding with you throughout the rest of your day,

Taking this sense of inner strength,

Take what with you that serves you and leave behind what doesn't,

As you start to wriggle fingers and toes,

As you start to notice your body again,

Seated,

Connected to your body and where you're seated,

The ground,

The chair,

And strong and steady in your own being and body,

Feel free to start to stretch,

Feel free to bring the hands together,

Closing our practice,

And maybe rub the hands and cut the eyes,

So gently open the eyes,

Welcome back.
