Thank you for joining me for this meditation.
Take time to make yourself comfortable and gently close your eyes.
Take some nice easy breaths as you feel your body start to soften.
We all have times in our life when we need to be able to release or let go of something that's happening.
And it's not always easy to do.
But I love the beautiful words in this poem by Reverend Sapphire Rose.
And even though this poem is titled She Let Go,
It's just as appropriate for men as for women.
So settle back and just listen to these beautiful words.
She let go.
She let go.
Without a word or a thought,
She let go.
She let go of the fear.
She let go of the judgments.
She let go of the confluence of opinions swarming around her head.
She let go of the committee of indecision within her.
She let go of all the right reasons.
Fully and completely without hesitation or worry,
She just let go.
She didn't ask anyone for advice.
She didn't read a book on how to let go.
She didn't search the scriptures.
She just let go.
She let go of all of the memories that held her back.
She let go of all of the anxiety that kept her from moving forward.
She let go of the planning and all of the calculations about how to do it just right.
She didn't promise to let go.
She didn't journal about it.
She didn't write the projected date in her day timer.
She made no public announcement and put no ad in the paper.
She didn't check the weather report or read her daily horoscope.
She just let go.
She didn't analyze whether she should let go.
She didn't call her friends to discuss the matter.
She didn't do a five-step spiritual mind treatment.
She didn't call the prayer line.
She didn't utter one word.
She just let go.
No one was around when it happened.
There was no applause or congratulations.
No one thanked her or praised her.
No one noticed a thing.
Like a leaf falling from a tree,
She just let go.
No struggle.
It wasn't good and it wasn't bad.
It was what it was and it is just that.
In the space of letting go,
She let it all be.
A small smile came over her face.
A light breeze blew through her.
The sun and the moon shone forevermore.
Is there anything that you need to let go of right now?
Is there anything that you are attached to?
Think about it.
Instead of letting go,
Sometimes it's easier to just let it be.
As said in the poem,
It was what it was and it is just that.
And sometimes just letting it be can bring us peace and freedom from the thoughts in our head.
Let's take a few minutes to simply sit and let the peace enter us.
We can use the mantra shanti,
Which means peace.
So you can just slowly and quietly,
Silently in your head,
Repeat shanti,
Shanti,
Shanti.
And when thoughts threaten to enter or show up,
Just acknowledge that they're there and come back to the mantra.
And you'll have this gentle drifting back and forth.
Some days that drifting may be easier.
Some days it may be harder.
It's just the way it goes and there's nothing wrong with that.
It shows that you're here and you're alive and you're in this moment.
And if you need to move to be more comfortable,
Let yourself move.
Just repeat shanti,
Shanti,
Shanti.
And when you hear me ring the chime,
Just continue to sit quietly with your eyes closed,
Letting the peace,
Letting shanti settle in.
Take a few minutes to practice taking shanti,
Shanti.
