Hi and welcome to this guided meditation for post-surgery recovery and healing of injury or illness.
This meditation is designed to help you relax,
To bring awareness to your body and help facilitate the healing process by cultivating a sense of calm and focusing your attention on the areas that require healing.
You can enhance your body's natural ability to recover.
So find a comfortable position that may be lying down or sitting upright and when you're ready close your eyes and let's begin.
Start by bringing awareness to our breath,
Take a deep breath in through the nose and as you exhale feel your body beginning to relax.
Inhale deeply again through the nose allowing the breath to fill your lungs and exhale releasing any tension or stress and taking one more deliberate breath in through the nose filling the lungs,
Breathe out,
Relax deeply and then allow your breath to resume its natural rhythm simply observing the coming and going of the breath from the nostrils.
As the breath flows in notice the sensation as the breath flows out feel the breath at the nostrils continuing to observe the breath in this way and the breath can continue to flow in this way relaxed natural and easy breaths but let's bring our attention to the body now and we're going to take a moment to scan the whole body from head to toe acknowledging any sensations or areas of discomfort and as you become aware of each part of your body let go of any tension or resistance you may be holding so bringing awareness to your head now see if you can feel your face notice if there's any tension any holding and the facial muscles you can relax the lips and the jaw keeping the eyes closed but relaxing let the eyelids be heavy if you're lying down feel the head being supported by the floor pillow and then noticing your neck the front of the throat in the back of the neck relaxing any tension here and then coming down and into the shoulders and bringing the awareness down into the upper arms flowing through the elbows into the forearms through the wrists into the palms into the thumbs and all the fingers right down to the fingertips and then shifting your attention back to the neck and beginning to flow the awareness down into the chest into the heart and the upper back down into the abdomen and the lower back further down into the hip joints and the buttocks and continuing to flow the awareness down through the thighs down through the knee joints and in to the lower legs eventually coming right the way down to the ankles heels arches of the feet and flowing into the big toes and all the little toes and just taking a moment now to become aware of your whole body from head to toe aware of and connected to the whole body and maybe thoughts are coming and going it does not matter just stay connected and aware of the whole body cultivating that connection to the whole body and now it's time to direct your attention to the specific area of your body that requires healing whether it's a post-operative site or an area affected by illness bring awareness to this area now and notice the sensations you feel here there might be warmth or coolness pain discomfort the area may even be numb try to approach it with compassion and curiosity acknowledging any discomfort or pain in this area while also acknowledging that as you bathe this part of the body in your conscious awareness you are helping to activate the potential for healing and rejuvenation so continue feeling into this area bathing the site in your conscious awareness loving healing awareness and you don't need to think about this just simply continue to feel and as you continue to do this there may be emotions connected to the area fear sadness grief whatever it may be acknowledge these emotions but try to stay with the feeling your breath continues flowing naturally and feel the sensations as they arise and if at any stage you find this to be overwhelming you can simply take your attention away from the area and just continue to watch the breath so continue to bathe this area in your conscious awareness for just a little while longer knowing that your awareness brings a healing restorative energy to the area and if you find visualization helpful you can follow along shortly if you don't find it helpful then just continue feeling into the area the part of the body you're healing now imagine a gentle stream of healing light flowing into the area that requires healing see this healing light as a warm comforting energy that bathes the affected area in a soothing glow picture this light bringing nourishment vitality and regeneration to the cells tissues and organs within and just allowing your awareness to permeate the whole body once again aware of and connected to the whole body and as you feel the body take a few moments to reflect on the healing process you've initiated within yourself express gratitude for your body's ability to heal and for the support you've received from medical professionals loved ones and from within yourself know that you are on the path to recovery and that you do have the power to continue healing both physically and emotionally and when you're ready gently bring your awareness back to the hands and the feet and you can wiggle your fingers and toes and when you're ready slowly open your eyes and return to the world around you carrying the sense of calm and healing with you throughout your day remember this meditation can be revisited whenever you feel the need for additional healing relaxation and self-care may you be blessed with a speedy recovery and abundant well-being my name is Rishi from good karma meditations I thank you for the practice
