Just like the concept of bookends,

I think it's important for us to have beginning and endings to the activities of what we do and how we start our day and end the day.

So the idea of bookends comes to mind,

A designated beginning and ending,

Just like we have when we have a bookshelf.

So in this 24-7 world that we live in,

We need something to remind us of that beginning.

So before you get out of bed,

Before you start the day and rush for coffee or turning on the news,

Start your day with conscious awareness.

So set the tone,

Think of it as setting the tone with some form of connection to your physical body.

Start your body and moving from sleep state into conscious awakening awareness.

This can be as simple as taking a few conscious breaths while you're still in bed or consciously feeling your body touching the floor as you sit up before you begin to move your body.

Let every morning be a new beginning,

A new opportunity to live our best life.

Regardless of what is going on in the world around us,

Take a moment to really tune into yourself.

Whether the day appears to be filled with many activities,

Start off on the right foot.

Try this.

Close or lower your eyes and become aware of your body.

Take at least three breaths,

Focusing on nothing other than being present to your physical body.

Allow your muscles to relax.

Bring your awareness down into your body as if you're watching your awareness.

Move from the thoughts in your head down to the awareness of your torso,

All the way down to your feet.

Take a few moments to stay in the awareness of your body.

Notice the sensation of peace and centeredness that you can get from this brief experience.

Centering yourself like this can take only a few breaths.

It can happen as quickly as three breaths and I strongly encourage you to do that even before you get out of bed in the morning.

Some people have a meditation practice that they like to do,

A prayer practice,

A yoga practice,

A Reiki practice,

Anything like that that will support you to begin your day in wholeness.

Center yourself like this in the morning.

Allows you to bring your full capacity into your day.

Begin your day in wholeness.
