This revitalising, guided meditation uses the sounds of nature to anchor you to the present moment. You will hear the gentle sounds of streams and waterfalls, as well as the call of buzzards, skylarks, and herons. If your mind starts to wander into thinking, planning or worrying, gently bring it back to the sounds that surround you, grounding you to the here and now. Notice whether the sounds of nature evoke any particular feelings, sensations or memories. Gently let them go. Allow this practice to clear your mind, embracing an enriching day ahead.

Nature's Sounds Meditation.

In this practice we're going to be using the sounds of nature as our anchor to the present experience.

So to begin this meditation,

Find a comfortable position,

Either seated on a chair,

On a cushion or perhaps lying down.

And just taking a moment to make sure that your back is straight and your shoulders are relaxed.

Placing your hands either by your sides or in your lap.

Again in a position that's comfortable for you.

And now gently closing your eyes or lowering your gaze and tuning in to the movement of the natural breath.

Breathing in and out through your nose if you're able to do so.

Taking a few breaths and settling both the body and the mind.

Allowing the mind now to follow the sounds of nature as they arise.

The sound of a running stream,

The sound of birdsong,

The sounds of a walk through the forest.

And as you do this,

If your mind starts to wander,

Just gently bring it back to the sounds that arise around you with kindness to yourself.

And now gently closing your eyes or lowering your gaze and tuning in to the movement of the natural breath.

And now gently closing your eyes or lowering your gaze and tuning in to the sounds that arise around you with kindness to yourself.

And as the sounds of nature start to fade,

Just coming back to following your natural breath,

Just as it is,

And following its flow through the body.

And as the practice draws to a close,

Gently open your eyes or raise your gaze and just take a moment for yourself.
