Break up with your diet meditation.

This meditation guides you to release your food rules while becoming conscious of what's holding you back.

I'll guide you to figure out where you're stuck in your dieting cycle and open you up to the freedom you can have with food.

Begin in a comfortable position,

Relaxing shoulders down your back,

Gently closing your eyes.

Take a few full belly breaths,

Allowing the air to come in through the nose,

Expanding the abdomen and slowly exhaling through the mouth,

Letting all of the air go.

Settling into the space,

Allowing the breath to come and go,

Fully inhaling and completely exhaling.

Allow your food rules to begin to surface,

Noticing what comes up,

Whether it's resistance and your body begins to tighten or if you openly begin to show yourself what you do in your daily eating habits.

Maybe it's counting calories,

Maybe it's not letting yourself eat during certain times,

Maybe it's requiring yourself to exercise if you've eaten something,

Maybe it's not eating entire food groups,

Or maybe it's something else completely.

Give yourself this time to be open and honest,

Allowing whatever comes up to surface,

Facing it without judgment.

Continue breathing into the space of open communication with yourself.

Allow your emotions to come up as they are,

Cry if you need to cry,

Smile if you want to smile,

Being present with yourself.

Begin to become curious of where you learned these rules.

Where did you learn this ideal that you should look a certain way,

That you need to control your food,

That you should focus on your weight?

Allow yourself to become playfully aware of where you found validation for these choices that have led you to develop an unhealthy relationship with food.

Maybe it's through the media or maybe from a parent or teacher,

Allowing this to surface.

As you become aware of where you learned your relationship with food and why you accepted someone else's ideas as truth,

Allow yourself to challenge these beliefs.

You are the one living in your body.

You know yourself better than anyone.

Someone else's ideas may not work for you.

Your body knows what works and what doesn't.

With each exhale,

Allow yourself to let go of these rules.

Let go of the weight loss focus.

Break up with your diet.

With each inhale,

Repeat silently or aloud.

In with the new and with each exhale,

Out with the old.

Letting go of the diet mindset.

In with the new,

Out with the old.

In with the new,

Out with the old.

In with freedom from food,

Out with control.

In with honoring your body,

Out with criticism.

In with learning to trust yourself again,

Out with any doubts about your body knowing how to function optimally.

In with nourishment,

Out with dieting.

Breathe into the space of allowing and release your diet cycle.

When you feel ready,

Begin to reawaken the body,

Taking a few full breaths and gently opening the eyes.

Continue your day with a newfound perspective towards food.

Really enjoyed this—after an unnecessarily strict elimination diet from a doctor, I’m working on getting back to a previously very healthy relationship with food. Thanks for this support! 💚

Very nice. I am trying to adopt a mindful eating habit and this supports that very well. Thank you.
