Welcome to your meditation today.
My name is Gil Elhart.
I'll be guiding you through a meditation on the purest vibration,
The sound of OM.
Known widely as a symbol,
OM is believed to be the cosmic sound of creation.
OM is a mantra with high spiritual and creative power.
Mantra means mind tool and it is simply a vibration we use to focus our minds.
In this meditation,
We'll be chanting several rounds of OM followed by periods of silence.
Let's begin.
Come into a comfortable seated position.
Lengthen your spine,
Expand across your chest,
And get in touch with your breath.
Spend a few moments getting comfortable and getting centered.
Now extend the length of your inhales and exhales for the next few moments.
We'll now begin to chant the mantra OM.
Pause after chanting the third round and feel the vibration resonating within and around your body.
Prepare with a deep inhalation.
OM OM OM Om consists of four syllables.
The initiating sound,
A,
Represents our state of waking consciousness,
Where we are focused outwardly on time and material.
When you initiate the mantra with the A sound,
Feel the vibration resonating in your chest and solar plexus through your mid-torso.
The next sound is the U sound,
Which symbolizes our dreaming state,
A deeply inward focus.
Feel the vibration of the U resonating in the back of your throat.
The M sound symbolizes our transcendence of separateness.
This is a deep meditative state of consciousness.
Feel the vibration of the M of Om resonating in the skull,
Which can provide a deeply profound relaxation to your mind and brain.
The fourth syllable of Om is the pure silence which follows the sound.
It represents our highest consciousness,
A place of absorption and integration with all things.
Now that you understand the deeper meaning of Om,
We'll chant it again,
Following the silence of the third chant.
Meditate on these states of consciousness.
Please take a moment to reaffirm your posture.
Start with a deep inhalation.
The extremity gets normalized and you can do it evenly.
Your entire body relaxes.
Aum represents our deepest connection to the universe and all things manifest and unmanifest.
In addition,
The vibrations and rhythmic pronunciation have a beneficial effect on our body and minds by helping slow down our nervous system.
When our mind is relaxed,
Our blood pressure also decreases,
Which is ultimately healthy for our heart.
This can be very beneficial for those with high blood pressure.
It's also a way of delineating the time of our practice from the rest of our day,
And signifying that this is a special time to care for ourselves and practice mindfulness.
Let's continue this practice of self-care through the mantra practice of Aum.
One more time,
We'll chant three rounds.
Start with a deep inhalation.
Aum Aum Aum You are connected with everything in the universe.
Thank you so much for joining me in this Aum meditation.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
Namaste.
