Find a comfortable seat and close your eyes,

Relax the body and take some deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth.

And come back to breathing normally through the nose.

And this practice will help you appreciate how lucky you are that life has given you many gifts.

That you have to appreciate these gifts and be ready because one day they might be taken away from you.

So no need to feel depressed or morbid.

Simply take this exercise as a vaccine,

A way for you to prepare to be ready when the things that you love in your life will be taken away from you eventually.

And also take this exercise as a way to appreciate the things you have in your life.

So pick something even small that you appreciate,

That you are grateful for in your life.

Let whatever comes to mind simply come to you and imagine losing this thing but facing this loss with personal elegance.

Almost as though you are giving back something that is not yours,

Something that simply was given to you by life for a while.

Imagine how you might go through grief and a period of unhappiness because of this loss.

But also imagine how you deal with it,

Overcome this loss.

Even with a smile on your face.

And reflect on the fact that yes,

This thing is precious.

It's really wonderful that you have it in your life but one day it might get lost or taken away from you.

So it's okay to enjoy it but you have to be ready just in case that it will not always be here.

And that's fine.

You can live without it.

You can be happy and simply appreciate the chance of having this thing.

And you know you can live without this thing because you have imagined it.

You have seen your life going on.

And if you want,

You can pick another object or maybe a person.

Notice how grateful you are for having this thing or person in your life.

And again,

Imagine that this thing is taken away from you.

It's simply something that life takes back.

Nothing personal.

And visualize how you deal with this loss with elegance,

Courage and strength.

And realize that you can be happy even without this thing or person.

And if you want,

You can keep practicing in this way.

You can pick an object,

A person or maybe an ability that you have.

Even something like seeing or walking.

It's possible to lose even that,

Especially when we get older.

And you don't have to feel sad,

Depressed.

It's not about that.

It's more about preparing for what might happen.

And again,

This exercise is created so that you can appreciate how lucky you are because now,

Once you conclude your practice,

You will come back to your everyday life.

And you will have the things,

The people that you imagined losing.

And you can be so much more grateful and appreciate that you have them in your life.

Knowing that it's a gift that might be taken away.

And that's fine.

You know you can live without that.

You are truly prepared and ready,

While at the same time appreciating the things life has given you.

And that's a win-win in my book.

I encourage you to practice this exercise also during the day.

Allow yourself to have flickering,

Really brief moments in which you realize that,

Oh,

I might lose this thing,

This person,

This ability.

For example,

You might walk for a few steps with your eyes closed just to realize that there are people living without sight.

And how lucky you are that you have sight,

You can see.

But also,

You can learn to walk like this.

And then you open the eyes and,

Oh,

I can see.

How delightful.

So bring this moment in your everyday life.

I wish you good luck.
