The first thing to cultivate when you're in a state of anxiety is self-compassion.
It's important to soothe your fears and to stop blaming and criticizing yourself.
So when you notice that you're beginning to come down hard on yourself,
Simply stop and become aware of that.
Then focus on your body and how it grounds you in the present moment.
Then begin to tell yourself that it's okay to be anxious.
Everybody feels anxious sometimes.
It's what makes us human to not be perfect.
Anxiety and all the emotions we rather not have make us grow and learn.
When you have calmed down a bit,
Listen to the following loving-kindness meditation.
Close your eyes.
And take a long,
Deep breath.
Allow that breath to flow through your body like a blessing.
There's a light in your heart space.
Fill that light with energy,
Relaxing you,
Bathing you,
Bringing you peace.
Keep breathing and notice the breath as it fills your body,
Bathes your organs,
Brings you love,
Protection,
Peace.
As you keep breathing,
The light on elopes your body and you're in a beautiful sphere of light.
And now take these intentions into your heart.
Repeat them to yourself.
And every time you hear a phrase,
Breathe it in.
May I be held in loving-kindness.
May I be filled with loving-kindness.
May I accept myself exactly as I am.
May I feel the joy and wonder of being alive.
May I be filled with deep peace.
May my heart and mind awaken.
And may I be free.
