Help your children relax with this meditation. Parents and teachers want their children to be thoughtful, honest, self respecting, confident, loving, and able to get along with others. Meditation is one of the most important ways we can help children become adults who will embody these qualities. Computer technology, flashing constant images, electronic games, t-v, mobile phones, social media mean constant activity for your child. Meditation helps children cope with their lives.

Would you like to know how to have calm and peaceful feelings?

By exploring your breathing,

You can find calm,

Peaceful feelings inside,

No matter where you are.

Let's sit in a comfortable position.

It's okay to feel squirmy at first.

Sometimes moving calms you down and makes you more comfortable.

Get as comfortable as you can and listen to my voice.

You may want to move your hands or your legs or your arms and feet.

What we're going to do is we're going to develop a calm and peaceful place where we will rest in our breath.

Where is your breath?

Can you tell where your breath is coming in?

For most people,

The breath comes in through your nose.

Or maybe it comes in through your mouth.

Where do you feel your breath come into your body?

Are you able to follow your breath to the place in your body where it goes?

It could be your chest or your belly.

Do you feel it coming into your chest or your belly?

This is called your inhale.

Can you put your fingers on the place where your breath is coming into your body?

Can you put your hand on the place in your body where the air goes?

This is your inhale.

This inhale takes you to calm and peaceful feelings.

Good.

Now,

Can you put your fingers where your breath goes out?

Is this place your nose or your mouth?

Can you feel the air coming into your body?

Can you feel the soft breeze as the air leaves your body?

Put your fingers where the air goes out of your body.

Is it your nose or your mouth?

Can you feel the air going out of your body?

This is called your exhale.

Right now,

We are just stopping and following our breathing,

Our inhale and our exhale.

Notice if your inhale is cool air coming into your nose or your mouth.

Notice if it is warm air coming out as you exhale.

Inhaling and exhaling.

Thoughts may come into your mind.

That's okay.

Just put your thoughts inside a bubble that floats away.

All of your worries floating away.

Maybe you have thoughts of someone who hurt your feelings or maybe you have to take a test and that makes you worry.

Maybe you have an important game to play or maybe you just heard an argument.

All of your worries float away in a bubble as you let go and feel the air come into your body and the air go out as you inhale and exhale.

Continue breathing in this way,

Noticing each time you inhale and exhale.

Every time you do this,

You have calm and peaceful feelings.

Know that at any time you watch your breath and imagine that bubbles carry away your worries.

You can have calm and peaceful feelings.

Now you've explored your breath and carried away your worries and you're now calm and peaceful.

Good night.

Practiced this meditation with one of my 8yo step-kiddos. He meditated with me, silently, the entire 7 minutes. Baby step, but giant leap, all at the same time. 💜💜💜

This is a wonderful meditation for children giving them a tool to help themselves in times when they’re feeling upset. It’s a simple yet powerful way to learn at a young age that there is a readily accessible way to become peaceful. If only we all had this meditation when we were young.

While this meditation is for children, I think everyone would like calm and peaceful feelings. And just about everyone has access to a peaceful mind because it is within us. By using our fingers and paying attention to our body, Georgiana physicalizes where to feel your breath coming in and going out. She repeated asks “do you feel it?”, which helps us focus. K-12 teachers and their students would benefit. Children are vulnerable to criticism, but they can bounce back quickly from anger to calm and peaceful feelings if they have a tool. This meditation is that tool. The background music and Georgiana’s calming voice is a perfect combination which reflects and supports the purpose of this meditation—calm and peaceful feelings.

Absolutely love this meditation! It is perfect for children! I will use it with my students, share with my nieces and nephews. Can’t wait to use it with my grandchild one day! It nurtures the child through a calm voice and a reassurance that they too can find peace inside them at anytime. I wish I had this practice in my childhood. Thank you so much for calm, peaceful feelings.
