Welcome to day 5 of navigating recovery and overcoming adversity.
Fear.
Almost all of us deal with some kind of fear on a daily basis.
It is often that lots of us are faced with the fears of insecurity,
Uncertainty,
Discomfort,
And many other things.
At the core of our negative patterns and addictive behaviors,
There is a desire to fulfill these unmet needs we have for security,
Comfort,
Love,
And self-esteem.
Yet,
Acting out our addictions will never fulfill our deepest needs because these negative patterns are fueled by our individual self,
Which is by nature,
Unsure,
And fearful.
Today though,
We are going to explore the idea that through meditation we can go beyond this fearful limited ego self and live carefree.
When we meditate,
We allow ourselves to awaken to our essential loving spiritual nature,
And this will allow us to go beyond the fear of our limited ego self and live in the present.
Then,
When we begin to become established in present moment awareness through meditation,
We realize that everything in this moment is perfect,
Just as it should be,
And that any concerns we may have are impermanent and interim.
Now we are able to see how meditation can help us go beyond the fear that is often at the core of our negative patterns.
Now let's prepare to meditate.
Make yourself comfortable and close your eyes.
Now begin to become aware of the breath,
Not focusing or concentrating.
Just simply watch the breath as it flows in and out.
Now easily and effortlessly begin silently repeating today's mantra,
Ah hum,
Ah hum,
Ah hum.
Continue to repeat this mantra,
Ah hum,
And whenever you notice your attention drifts away to thoughts,
Noises,
Or physical sensations in your body,
Simply return your attention to silently repeating the mantra,
Ah hum,
Ah hum,
Ah hum.
Please continue with your meditation.
I will watch the time,
And when it's time to end our meditation,
You will hear me ring a soft chime.
When you hear the chime,
Stop repeating the mantra and continue sitting easily with your eyes closed.
Enjoy your meditation.
It's time to release the repetition of the mantra and continue sitting easily with your eyes closed.
Now begin to bring some slight movement into your body by wiggling your fingers and toes.
Whenever it feels comfortable,
You can slowly open your eyes.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your day,
And I look forward to meditating with you again tomorrow for day six of navigating recovery and overcoming adversity.
Namaste.
