Day 21 of "Navigating Recovery And Overcoming Adversity." Discover the idea that meditation, can aid us in shifting our mindset from "What's in it for me?" to "How can I help? Ultimately you will learn how to go beyond negative addictive behaviors by being willing to give that which you seek. I want to thank all my teachers, especially Deepak Chopra, Gabby Bernstein, and David Ji who have inspired me in inspiring you.

Welcome to day 21,

Fellow meditators.

As the 13th century Sufi poet Rumi once said,

The wound is the place where the light enters you.

There is great value in helping others,

And often someone who has overcome destructive habits themselves can help when no one else can.

It doesn't matter how deep or dark a life got for you,

Our experience can benefit others because it provides hope in human form to those who still suffer.

Today is our second to last day together,

And we have saved this topic of how can I serve for today because we believe using our experience to benefit others is along with meditation one of the most beneficial tools we have to free ourselves from our addictions.

The reason for this is because as Deepak Chopra writes,

In our willingness to give that which we seek,

We keep the abundance of the universe circulating in our lives.

This means that if we want to keep the flow of abundance circulating in our life,

We must give to others that which we seek.

In order to fit ourselves though to be of maximum service to others,

We have to shift our identity from the level of the ego,

Our most individual selves,

To the level of the soul,

Our most universal selves.

This is because the ego's internal dialogue is always what's in it for me,

And our soul's inner dialogue is how can I help.

Here's where meditation plays a key role.

When we meditate as we have already discovered throughout our meditation experience together,

Our identity becomes less local and more universal.

This means our identity shifts from ego to soul.

With that being said,

This shift in our identity from ego to soul and our ability to ask how can I help that comes from that instead of what's in it for me is so crucial because if we really want to ensure immunity from our negative patterns and addictive behaviors,

We have to help others meet their needs.

Ultimately,

We have saved this topic of how can I serve for today,

Day 21,

Because our hope is that you'll continue meditating and asking how can I help daily because when we serve others,

We serve ourselves and it is in this way the whole world is served and it is when we are all in service to one another that we have a better chance of creating a more happy,

Just,

Sustainable,

Loving,

Healthy,

And compassionate world for all.

Now let's prepare to meditate.

Begin by finding a comfortable seat and closing your eyes.

Now begin to become aware of your breath,

Not focusing or concentrating.

Just simply watch the breath as it effortlessly flows in and out.

Now,

Easily and effortlessly,

Begin silently repeating today's mantra,

Om Sri Gam Nama.

Om Sri Gam Nama.

Om Sri Gam Nama.

Continue to repeat this mantra,

Om Sri Gam Nama.

And whenever you notice yourself distracted by thoughts,

Noises,

Or physical sensations,

Simply return your attention to silently repeating the mantra,

Om Sri Gam Nama.

Om Sri Gam Nama.

Om Sri Gam Nama.

Please continue with your meditation.

I will watch the time.

When it is time to end our meditation,

You'll hear me ring a soft chime.

When you hear the chime,

Stop repeating the mantra and continue sitting quietly with your eyes closed.

Enjoy your meditation.

Om Sri Gam Nama.

It's time to release silently repeating the mantra and continue sitting quietly with your eyes closed.

Now begin to bring some slight movement into your body wiggling your fingers and toes.

Whenever it feels comfortable slowly open your eyes.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your day and I look forward to meditating with you again tomorrow for our final day together,

Day 22 of navigating recovery and overcoming adversity.

Namaste.

Om Sri Gam Nama.

Really positive and uplifting, thank you! I found repeating the mantra Om Shri gam Nama ( sorry for mispelling!) Very soothing and helps calm the mind. What does it mean please? I would say this meditation supports reducing anxiety. Namaste.

Very calming. I, too, wonder what the mantra is. I would recommend looking it up before hsnd. "OM SHREE GUM NAMA." That is what it sounds like to me.

(I had to Google the mantra after seeing other comments here; it appears to be a mantra to overcome obstacles, which makes sense.) Thank you for YOUR service to others ๐Ÿ’œโ˜ฎ๏ธ๐Ÿ’œNamaste
