We're at day 16,
Fellow meditators.
As number one New York Times bestselling author Gabrielle Bernstein says,
When your source of happiness is another human being,
You're totally screwed.
When it comes to romantic relationships,
Our ego loves to project into the future,
And this makes it easy for us to believe we won't be okay without our romantic partner.
When ego begins to establish this sort of future tripping,
Fear-based thinking,
We're in trouble.
With that being said,
One of the main reasons we're in trouble is because the ego makes us feel we're incomplete without this relationship we have made special.
And often this can lead us to attempt to mollify our pain with negative habits and addictive behaviors.
This means that in order to help ensure that we don't engage in negative patterns and addictive behaviors,
We're going to have to turn over our relationships to the care of our most universal self,
Our inner guide,
Our higher power.
Here is where our meditation practice comes into play.
When we meditate,
We actually do just that,
Because when we meditate we shift our perspective from ego to spirit.
By not doing this and allowing the ego to continue to run the show,
We end up staying stuck in the kind of thinking in which we end up screwed.
However,
When we do meditate and shift our perspective,
We are guided by the spirit of love to let go of our fears and surrender the outcome of these special relationships.
Ultimately,
Through our meditation practice,
We can release ourselves from our fears and live in the present.
And this will then not only allow us to make the most out of our relationships,
But it will also help ensure that we don't engage in addictive behaviors to attempt to reduce the uncomfortable thoughts and feelings that the ego's special relationships create.
Now,
Let's prepare to meditate so we can overcome our fear in relationships.
Begin by finding a comfortable seat and closing your eyes.
Now begin to become aware of the breath,
Not focusing or concentrating.
Just simply watch the breath as it naturally flows in and out.
Now,
Easily and effortlessly,
Begin silently repeating today's mantra,
Hum-suh,
Hum-suh,
Hum-suh.
Continue to repeat this mantra,
Hum-suh,
And whenever you notice yourself distracted by thoughts,
Noises,
Or physical sensations,
Simply return your attention to silently repeating the mantra,
Hum-suh,
Hum-suh,
Hum-suh.
Please continue with your meditation.
I will watch the time,
And when it's time to end our meditation,
You will hear me ring a soft chime.
When you hear the chime,
Stop repeating the mantra and continue sitting quietly with your eyes closed.
Enjoy your meditation.
It's time to release silently repeating the mantra,
Hum-suh,
And continue sitting quietly with your eyes closed.
Now begin to bring some slight movement into your body by wiggling your fingers and toes.
Whenever it feels comfortable,
Slowly open your eyes.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your day,
And I look forward to meditating with you again tomorrow for Day 17 of navigating recovery and overcoming adversity.
Namaste.
