Welcome,
Fellow meditators,
To Day 14 of our 22 Days of Guided Meditation,
Navigating Recovery and Overcoming Adversity.
During our time together today,
We will be exploring the idea of turning within.
Negative habits and addictive behaviors,
As we have already discovered,
Stem from searching for an outside fix,
For an inside job.
You can spend your whole life looking for joy,
But as long as you are looking outside of yourself,
Rather than within,
To your innermost self,
You won't experience lasting fulfillment.
Therefore,
The secret to freedom from addiction is to form a relationship with our innermost self.
Whether you view this innermost self as your higher self,
The spirit of the universe,
Or a power greater than yourself,
Is not important.
The only thing that is important is that we turn within for guidance so we can direct our search for peace from our outer world to our inner world.
With that said,
The way we do this is through asking our innermost self for direction and then receiving that direction through meditation.
However,
Don't let this idea of asking for guidance disturb you.
We are only referring to turning within for direction.
When we do this,
We are letting go of our own ideas and turning within to receive the guidance of our innermost self.
Then,
The answer to our asking for guidance and direction can come through our daily meditation practice.
It is by meditating regularly we can begin to establish inner quietness in our lives,
And it is in this stillness that we cultivate through meditation that we can hear the direction we've been yearning for.
Now,
We see that beginning our dialogue with the universe in meditation,
Therefore it can be used to release our negative patterns and addictive behaviors because when we humbly surrender daily and turn within,
Eventually the voice of the guidance from our innermost self can begin to outweigh the voice of our addictions.
Ultimately,
It is by diverting our journey for peace from the outer world to within one's own self that is one of the most pivotal steps to achieving freedom from our addictions and staying the course.
Now let's prepare to meditate.
Begin by finding a comfortable seat and closing your eyes.
Now begin to become aware of the breath,
Not focusing or concentrating,
Just simply observing the breath as it naturally flows in and out.
Now begin to repeat today's mantra,
Om Hreem Namaha.
Whenever you notice yourself distracted from repeating today's mantra by thoughts,
Noises in the environment,
Or sensation in your body,
Gently return your attention back to silently repeating today's mantra,
Om Hreem Namaha.
I will watch the time and when it is time to end our meditation,
You will hear me ring a soft chime.
When you hear the chime,
Stop repeating the mantra and continue sitting quietly with your eyes closed.
Enjoy your meditation.
