Day 13 of Navigating Recovery And Overcoming Adversity: Self-Review. Today we will discover that allowing unsettled issues to accumulate can cause us to engage in addictive behaviors to numb the suffering, struggle, and remorse that accompanies them. Ultimately, you will learn how to perform a method of "Self Review" at the end of your evening meditation, so your heart can be free of the unsettled issues that contribute to addiction. I want to thank all my teachers, especially Deepak Chopra, Gabby Bernstein, and David Ji who have inspired me in inspiring you.

Hello fellow meditators and welcome to day 13 of our 22 day guided meditation series navigating recovery and overcoming adversity.

When we allow unsettled issues to accumulate often we end up engaging in addictive behaviors to numb the suffering struggle and remorse that accompanies them.

Knowing this the first thing we want to look at is how it is we can begin to make choices with more awareness so our choices have a better chance of creating happiness and well-being for ourselves and all those affected by our actions.

As we have already learned the way we can all begin making choices with more awareness is to meditate daily.

When we meditate daily we become more conscious choice makers because our mind is more tranquil and less reactive.

Then with a more tranquil less reactive mind we are less likely to make a choice that is not aligned with what we know in our hearts is right.

With that being said though another great way to prevent unsettled issues from accumulating is to develop a habit of self-review in the evenings.

By taking the time to review our actions daily and noticing when we respond to the life with fear instead of love we can learn from our past and prevent pain regrets and grievances from piling up and causing us to engage in our negative patterns and addictive behaviors.

Ultimately daily self-review in the evenings is one of the most powerful tools we can use to heal and transform ourselves.

So now let's prepare for a few minutes of meditation so we can quiet our minds and then learn how to develop this habit of daily self-review that we are encouraging you to practice regularly in the evenings.

Begin by finding a comfortable seat and closing your eyes.

Now begin breathing not focusing or concentrating just simply observe the breath as it naturally flows in and out.

Now easily and effortlessly begin repeating today's mantra ah hum ah hum ah hum.

Whenever you notice yourself distracted by thoughts,

Noises in the environment,

Or a sensation in your body gently bring your awareness back to silently repeating today's mantra ah hum ah hum ah hum.

I will watch the time continue meditating when you hear me ring a soft chime release the repetition of the mantra and continue sitting easily with your eyes closed.

Enjoy your meditation.

Release the repetition of the mantra and continue sitting quietly with your eyes closed.

Keeping the eyes closed begin this method of self-review by reviewing your day in your mind's eye first starting with whatever you did upon awakening.

As you continue with this process by constructively reviewing the rest of your day in fast-forward look to notice whenever your behavior was not aligned with your higher self.

If during your review you notice this was the case make a commitment to bring peace to the situation.

Now continue with this process for the next five minutes viewing your entire day on fast-forward.

Keeping the eyes closed stop reviewing your day.

Did you notice you failed to act when it might have been beneficial for yourself and others or did you notice you acted in a way that caused others to suffer?

If so make a commitment to taking the necessary steps to bring healing to each situation.

Then continue with this practice daily each evening first quieting your mind with meditation and then performing this method of self-review so your hearts can be free and unsolved issues that can cause you to act out won't accumulate.

Thanks again for joining us and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow for day 14 of navigating recovery and overcoming adversity.

Namaste.

Reviewing my day on fast forward was a bit akward. I do check in with myself and my actions throughout my day. I do feel the benefits of that habit. I do understand the value of that habit. Namaste George

Would have been best to do at night, but I reviewed my morning in detail, and was helpful. Best at night because it has 5 minute reflection of day. Good reminder/ method to practice step 10 page 84 BB of AA, whilst practicing step 11. Thank you for the series!
