I'm sorry you're not feeling well right now. It can be tough to do anything, and ALSO tough to rest. Here is a gentle hangout session where you can feel accepted and supported and bathed in a warm hug. Feel better, my friend.

Yeah,

Not fun right now.

Maybe your throat is sore,

You're coughing,

Bone tired,

Maybe sniffling a bit.

The worst.

I suppose it's time to relax and let whatever it is have its way with you.

Because it'll pass,

Right?

Take a seat or lie down.

Make yourself comfortable.

Grab a blanket,

A pillow,

Maybe put on a humidifier,

Grab a cup of tea.

It's easy to forget these simple things to take care of yourself when you're just sick and bleary.

And by the way,

You didn't fail by getting sick,

My friend.

Your body didn't fail.

All is well here,

You know,

Just in case you're telling yourself that.

And I'm sorry that you're not feeling so great.

It does kind of suck.

And if you're under the weather,

You probably don't have that much energy to do much.

And I promise this is going to be very chill.

It's also easy to get FOMO.

It's like everybody else is out there having a life and I have to sit here on the couch or whatever.

And maybe your brain is taking you down some other rabbit hole of bad attitude,

Which is fine.

It's kind of why we're here with this recording that is.

And you know what?

Whatever's happening with you,

It's just going to take as long as it's going to take.

You're still a worthy human.

Let me state the very obvious.

You're still a worthy human,

Even when you feel helpless and vulnerable and you've got a lot of pain.

So you know,

There might be thoughts that arise,

Stories your mind wants to create.

Just let them be.

Maybe don't get sucked in.

And I want to add another thought to the pile.

It is possible you could feel just a little bit better.

I mean,

No promises,

But it is a possibility.

You could relax a little,

Let go and let your body do its thing.

After all,

It just wants to get better.

Okay,

So let's get started.

Now that you're settled in,

Take an inhale and an exhale.

Let's do that again.

Inhale,

Exhale.

Cough if you need to,

Blow your nose.

And again,

Inhale,

Exhale.

Even this might be a little tough.

Whatever pain is there,

If you can stand it,

Just let it be,

You know,

Do what you need to do,

But just after that,

Let it be.

If you can keep settling in,

Inhale,

Exhale.

You might be in a position where you just want to run out of the room or check out by watching some Netflix special or whatever.

Hey,

This is where you are right now.

There's nothing to fix.

So,

You know,

You might feel impatient,

Frustrated,

Agitated.

Did I say impatient?

Yeah,

It's real and it's totally fine.

So if there's some stubbornness or anything,

You might be thinking to yourself,

I just don't want to do this.

This is stupid.

When am I going to get better?

Okay,

I got you.

So let's play a little game.

Imagine that there's someone in the other room and not just anyone,

But someone who truly cares about you and makes you feel comfortable and nurtured.

They might actually be in the other room,

But if they're not,

Let's play.

So maybe it's your mom.

Maybe it's your spouse,

Your yoga instructor,

A healing practitioner,

Like a friend.

Just someone you know that really cares about you and makes you feel nurtured.

And once you have a sense of who that is,

Feel what it feels like to have that loving presence just in the other room.

You're right there.

Take an inhale,

Exhale.

Good job.

This person is there for you.

They just are.

They love you.

They're just the person you need to feel safe and grounded in this kind of crappy time.

And as it happens in our little game today,

They are making something for you.

They're brewing up a hot mug of tea in a flavor that you actually appreciate.

You can hear the little light clattering of dishes from the kitchen as they prepare some tea.

Keep breathing deeply.

Maybe you breathe a little more deeply,

Just knowing that they're there.

At some point,

They come in and they're carrying a brightly patterned mug of tea.

The steam is rising out of it.

And they're bringing a little plate of cookies and crackers too.

You accept the mug and you can feel the heat from the mug in your hands.

That's what you needed.

You take a sip.

Your throat is soothed.

Your chest feels a little warmer.

This person pats your shoulder and assures you you'll feel better soon.

And then they leave you to rest.

As you sip the tea,

The warmth envelops your whole body.

It's just so cozy.

This warmth and comfort helps you relax even more.

Hey,

Maybe the discomfort is okay after all.

Maybe you can be okay with having a bleary mind or low energy.

It's just your body taking care of a few things.

Notice your inhale and exhale.

You get so comfortable that you start to drift off into sleep.

You start dreaming of a golden ball of light hovering above you.

It's like a little sun warming you just right there in this room.

Somehow you sense that this ball has some healing powers and it will help you relax and rest.

It drifts up to your head and you can already feel the warmth as it beams out to your forehead.

Just feel that for a second.

It glows on your eyes,

Your ears,

Your nose,

Your mouth,

Just all over your face and your head.

Just nice warmth.

It's enveloping you with all this golden,

Warm light.

Feel that into your sinuses,

Down your throat,

In your neck,

Any place that's congested there.

It starts to glow at your chest.

It moves over your chest,

Warms your lungs and that upper belly area,

Like your diaphragm that helps you breathe.

It grows a little bit bigger as it spreads out to your arms.

Glowing on your shoulders,

Your upper arms,

Your elbows,

Your lower arms,

Your wrists,

Your hands.

Just feel your entire arms shrouded and warmed by this light.

This golden ball moves to your belly next.

As it hovers there,

It bathes your belly in warmth and nourishment.

Feel that.

It's beaming into your belly completely.

It goes right where it needs to.

See if you can just relax and let that happen.

This warmth and light now moves to your hips and sacral area,

Perhaps your womb if you have one.

Feel the warmth.

Feel the nurturing in this area.

Inhale,

Exhale.

It's radiating down your thighs,

Your knees,

Your lower legs,

Ankles and feet.

Let this pour into your legs and feet,

Your entire lower body.

Feel that.

Now the ball gets a mind of its own and floats to where it's most needed and wanted.

Maybe it needs to go back up to your throat,

Your sinuses,

Your chest,

Your belly.

Let it move around and envelop you with its golden light where things might be kind of intense.

It's just going to go where it needs to go.

See if you can let that happen.

I'm going to wind this down now with some reflection.

So if you want to just pause and enjoy this golden light,

Now would be the time.

So it's possible that this has been a little tough because sometimes when you're tired and in pain,

It's hard to receive.

I would just say,

Keep playing with it.

You know,

Maybe listen to this again,

Get another rep in.

Maybe it's easier the second time.

You know,

Real rest takes practice,

Especially when we feel a little off.

You know,

Some people can just pass out when they're not feeling so good,

But it's not the case for everyone.

So if you need to rest and sleep,

Grab a blanket if you don't have one already and curl up for a little nap.

It's probably what your body is asking for anyway.

So that's it,

My friend.

Nice job.

I mean,

Hey,

You are where you are.

It's likely that things will turn around pretty soon.

We'll see.

For now,

Just take good care of yourself and thanks for coming on this journey.

I'm going to let the music keep going for a couple more minutes,

So enjoy.

Thankfully I don’t have a cold currently but I like to be proactive. It’s hard to find things when you’re not well. I am feeling a bit off and this was very helpful. I appreciated the fomo reminder and that it isn’t my fault I got sick. I also really like how the teacher guides us with the healing light. One small point, while I liked the background music, if I was trying to rest it might be a bit too uptempo. I found the teacher’s voice very welcoming. Many thanks for offering this.
