Chakra Tune-Up
by Gemma Clarke
In this 20-minute chakra cleanse and tune-up, I guide you through each of the 7 chakras. The chakras are the energy centres of the body. Each chakra impacts different aspects of our life and has its own associated emotional, physical, and mental functions. I include qualities and colour visualisation for each chakra, and an affirmation to release blockages and promote free-flowing life force energy (prana) throughout the body. Suitable for both beginners and those already familiar with the chakras.

Hi,
This is Gemma from B.
Thighstyle and today I'm going to take you through a guided meditation on the chakras.
The chakras are known as the energy centres of the body.
There are seven of these chakras,
These energy centres,
Starting from the base of the spine,
They run all the way up the spine to the crown of the head.
So I'll guide you through a meditation to help balance and realign each of these chakras and release any blockages that may be present.
To start by finding a comfortable seated position that may be cross-legged,
That may be sitting on a pillow,
A blanket,
Underneath the hips or knees,
Or maybe you want to have the legs straight out in front of you or sit on your heels with the knees together.
Take a moment to find that comfortable position and make sure that the sitting bones are grounded and the spine is elongating,
The crown of the head is drawing up,
Relax the shoulders away from the ears.
You can bring the hands to rest onto the knees with the palms facing up and then close in the eyes.
And just take these first few moments to connect to your natural breath.
Start to notice each inhale and each exhale that you take.
Start to notice the movement of the breath in the body,
The chest rising on the inhale and falling on the exhale.
Let yourself settle,
Let the mind start to calm,
The thoughts start to slow down.
Make sure that the physical body is free of tension,
Relaxing the shoulders,
The jaw,
The neck.
Start to feel yourself really grounded into the floor,
For the contact of the sitting bones on the floor,
The contact of the feet touching the floor or the mat that you're sitting on,
Getting the contact of your hands resting on your knees.
I'm going to bring your awareness to the base of the spine where the first chakra,
The root chakra,
The muladhara resides.
So the muladhara chakra is the centre of our safety and security.
It's a part of us that helps us feel safe and at ease in ourselves and in the world around us.
Govans our basic needs,
Including our emotional needs.
Gives us that sense of security,
Letting us know that everything is okay.
We feel secure in ourselves,
Who we are.
We also feel secure when we're living our day to day life,
The environment around us.
Bring your awareness on that point right at the base of the spine,
By the tailbone.
Start to visualize a red ball of energy here.
You can visualize this red ball of energy spinning round and round,
Vibrating its light and its warmth.
And as you keep your awareness on this centre,
You may like to start to repeat to yourself the mantra,
I am.
Getting to the sense of self,
I am.
And slowly start to draw your awareness a bit higher up,
Moving up the spine to about an inch or so below the belly button,
Where the sacral chakra,
The svarasana chakra resides.
This chakra is all about our feelings,
Our creativity,
Passion and pleasure.
It's linked to our senses,
It helps us to connect to how we're feeling in our bodies.
It also helps to connect to the things that bring us pleasure and make us feel passionate in our life.
It's known as the centre of emotions.
As you hold your awareness on this part of the body,
An inch or so below the spine,
You may like to start to visualize a orange ball of energy here.
Again you may see this ball of orange energy vibrating and pulsing.
And as you hold your awareness here,
You may like to repeat to yourself the mantra,
I feel.
I feel.
And continue to draw your awareness a little bit further up the spine,
Coming to an inch or so above the belly button,
Manapura chakra,
The solar plexus.
Here resides our centre of personal power.
This is the part of us where we get our motivation,
Our determination and our drive from.
The part of us that helps us move towards our goals.
The second chakra,
The sacral chakra helps us to connect to our passion and our desires.
And the manapura chakra helps us to move in the direction towards those,
Giving us that confidence,
That determination and also giving us that sense of inner strength.
We need to draw from our inner strength,
This is the part of us that we draw from.
So holding your attention on this part of the body,
Start to visualise a yellow ball of energy just above the belly button.
And as you keep your awareness on this yellow energy here,
Start to repeat to yourself the mantra,
I do.
The manapura chakra helping us to get things done,
To take action.
Starting to draw your awareness up a little bit further,
Up to the heart centre,
Where our anahata,
The heart chakra resides.
So our anahata chakra is all about love,
Compassion.
And feeling grateful,
The qualities of this heart chakra,
Gratitude,
Love,
Compassion,
Understanding.
And this also includes love for ourself,
Self love,
Self care.
As you hold your awareness here on this heart chakra,
The centre of the heart,
Start to visualise a green ball of energy vibrating and pulsing around the entire heart centre.
Starting to repeat to yourself the mantra,
I love.
And moving the awareness up a little further to the throat,
The centre of the throat,
Where the rishudha,
The throat chakra resides.
Our throat chakra is all about communication,
The way we communicate with people.
And our right to be heard.
Our throat chakra gives us that confidence to speak out,
To say what we really feel,
To speak our truth.
Without feeling scared or without feeling like we're going to be judged.
Allows us to really express how we're feeling instead of holding our feelings and our thoughts inside.
To keeping your awareness on the centre of the throat,
Start to visualise a light blue ball of energy,
Like a sky blue colour.
Visualising this blue energy,
Start to repeat to yourself the mantra,
I speak.
And to draw the awareness up through the head until you reach the forehead.
That place just in between the eyebrows,
The third eye.
Our third eye chakra is all about intuition,
Wisdom.
Connecting to that inner voice inside us.
That feeling when we know if something is right or if something is wrong,
That intuitive feeling.
The more we connect to and strengthen this chakra,
The more we begin to have that intuitive feeling.
To have visions of the future,
To access our minds power.
Holding your awareness on that centre between the eyebrows,
The third eye chakra,
Start to visualise an indigo coloured energy ball in that space between the eyebrows.
As you visualise this indigo energy,
Start to repeat to yourself the mantra,
I see.
And finally,
Starting to draw your awareness up to the top of the head,
The crown chakra,
The Sahasrara chakra.
Located right at the top of the head.
The crown chakra is our connection to the universe,
To spirit,
A deeper understanding of who we are.
As you hold your awareness on this part of the body,
Right at the top of the head,
Start to visualise a purple energy.
Maybe this energy is floating on the top of the head like a crown.
As you visualise this purple energy at the top of the head,
Start to repeat to yourself the mantra,
I understand.
And slowly start to draw the awareness down through the body.
So starting from the top of the head,
Slowly start to draw the awareness down back to the forehead,
The third eye chakra,
The space between the eyebrows.
Just take a few breaths here.
And then drawing the energy back down towards the throat.
And a few breaths here at the Suda,
Throat chakra.
Drawing the energy down to the heart chakra,
The heart centre.
And down towards the Manipura chakra,
The solar plexus,
Just above the belly button.
Continue to draw the awareness down to below the belly button,
The sacral chakra.
And then finally coming all the way down to the muladhara,
The root chakra,
Right at the base of the spine where the tailbone is.
Feel yourself rooting back into the ground.
You can turn your palms face down onto your knees to help you reground.
Feel the contact of the sitting bones and the feet on the ground,
The contact of the hands on the knees.
And start to deepen the breath a little,
Breathing in from the belly.
Deepening,
Lengthening the breath.
Maybe start to wiggle the toes and the fingers a little,
Bringing some movement back into the physical body.
And when you're ready you can open your eyes and in your own time return back to your day.

One of the best Chakra meditations I have ever done. Calming, grounding - I really got a sense, a feeling and vibration with each Chakra we worked through. What a lovely, calm and grounding voice you have. Wonderful pace.
